I was up at Costco over the weekend, and found a copy of the full series of SPACE: Above and Beyond for only $29.99! I'm already up to episode 8, Hostile Visit (air date 11/19/1995) where they capture an enemy fighter and learn to fly it. It's also the episode where Wang does an amazingly accurate impression of McQueen as a plumber. Hi-larious!

It's a great series by Glen Morgan and James Wong, and I highly recommend it for those of you who are not familiar with it.

I loved the show. It had all the hallmarks of a great show, great concept, brilliant actors and writing, outstanding effects and it was cancelled by Fox.

Unfortunatly they don't sell the official DVD over here. But I could get the bootleg edition from some guy over here. Apparrently it's very high quality.

The music really pulled me in. As posted before (S:AAB pops in in threads here every few moonths)I was amazed Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline keep with the timeless feel so far in the future.

I wish great shows like this would stay away from FOX. Firefly and Space: Above and Beyond would of had a better chance to succeed if they were on another network.

Ok don't shoot me...

...but I found the acting wooden and the story arcs predictable.

That said, I still enjoyed the series. The music and overall concept pulled me in and distracted me from the weaker points. It had potential to evolve into so much more. Damn F*X!!

Those hammerhead fighters were nice ships!
