There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

A very good movie, direct-to-dvd I believe. Got it through Netflix and watched it this morning. I have a website for reviews of SF books, movies and tv, however I only write reviews for things I can recommend to others. I just uploaded one for this movie.

This is the first time I have embedded a YouTube video on any of my pages, and since I use a rather antiquated web design program, I was have some difficulty inserting the html code. I had to alter it a bit, but it works for me, and I need to find out if it works for others. If someone would be so kind as to check it out and let me know if the video plays on that page, or are you redirected to YouTube, or not able to view the video at all? Thanks.

YouTube video plays fine in Firefox 2.0.0.11 and Opera 9.24 (the two browsers I have on my system). Think you did good EC!

Movie looks pretty good too - lots of familiar faces, and an interesting premise. Netflix you say?

STRANGEBIRD

This film sounds very interesting. I was just watch "Requiem for Methuselah" the other night and thought how it was one of the more well written episodes of the original Trek. Not to mention my personal favorite(particularly the final scene). I will most definitely be picking this one up as soon as possible. I'll probably be the only one in my family to enjoy it but it still looks intriguing. Thank you for pointing this film out.

Just seen it, and loved it. Feels more like a stage play (and a fairly minimalistic one at that) than a SF film, but it had mee hooked.

Making a film with horrifying CGI monsters and space ships, prosthetic make up and people hanging on wires doing impossible Kung Fu is, these days, getting too easy (expensive, but easy).

Doing a film about half-a-dozen people sitting in an empty house, listening to and reacting to an astounding story they are being told and that's all folks is actually more impressive.

PS: If its not too late - don't read the review linked to in the first post, far too spoilery for me - I watched the film cold and it was much better for it.

I really do try to avoid what I consider spoilers in most of my reviews, but sometimes it's hard to talk about things without revealing too much. I'll try to do better next time.

Its not so much a criticism of your review as such, just a recommendation to others that this is a film it pays to see without knowing too much about - although I think that its fair to alert people that its basically about 6 or 7 people talking and unlikely to appeal to a sugar-intoxicated 9-year old.

I happened to watch this film completely cold (I just knew that it was low budget and SF/Fantasy of some sort) and that really enhanced my enjoyment.

However - in the spirit of constructive criticism - I think perhaps you did veer a bit to far towards a plot outline rather than a review - in particular, the paragraph towards the end, starting... er... "Toward the end..." was definitely Too Much Information.

Mind you, the (presumably official) trailer was alomost as bad. I particularly like the way that they managed to include (by my count) all but one occurences of any sort of physical "action" in the entire film...

(Bit like the "Sweeny Todd" trailers which completely omit to mention that the film is a musical...)
