Hmm......i really love the show, so it's not a good thing to hear, though i am a tad skeptical about this news.

The quote that it takes from Josh Shwartz is something ive read in many reports before; about how the finale for the season would be a game changer and all that, but ive also read that the finale they have is planned as a season, not series finale, so i'm guessing even if they do wrap up major things, that they'll open a few new cans of worms. So yeah, other than the article itself taking the perspective of unlikely renewability, there's nothing new there.

I think i'll wait for an official report before i consider it gone; its too good a show for me to give up on!

I'm babbling like a moonbrain.

Not so fast there, Chris. It's my impression that McDonald's is relatively new to the "lovin' it" business ("[doing] it all for [us]" worked so well for so long). If you can prove in a court of law that you've been "lovin' it" longer than Mickey-D.'s has, they may owe you an apology...and a fat check...maybe you should talk to Hero about this.

It was like that when we got here!

I can not see this show coming to an end. It appears to be very popular. So there may be changes, which would be okay as long as they keep the same cast. I can not help enjoying Chuck's balancing the world of being a spy and working for Buy More.

I had hope for Chuck, back in the first few episodes... it was a fun show, written by and for smart people. Then, NBC realized they had a mild hit on their hands - due in no small part to its pre-Heroes time slot.

The show was dumbed-down almost overnight for the new, pop audience -- cameos by "cool" (vapid) stars like Nicole Richie, Andy Richter, Jenny McCarthy, and Michael Strahan.

The guest stars might have been ok, had they maintained the quality in the stories, the snap in the dialogue, the inside jokes that only nerds like Chuck and me (the core fanbase) would get. IMHO, they did not.

While I understand why they did what they did to Chuck, I don't have to like it! I gave up on Chuck at Nicole Richie, and never looked back.

I got hooked on the last 3 new eps of Chuck before I got the first season on DVD and saw the first 3 eps from that, and the only difference I'm noticing is Chuck's quite natural acclimation to the danger factor in season 2.

Am I just dumb?

No need. I mean, the slogan was a quick fix replacement for an ad where a man looked at burger and proclaimed "I'd hit it!"

McDonalds wanted to show how with it they were. And they did. Now all I can say is Ewww!

As for Chuck. Ah well. It was television. It was fun, a mix of good stuff and trite elements. I pretty much think that TV has entered into the spiral of doom, where suck is going to outrank success increasingly.

In the future, I expect to see a line up that looks like this:

More Cartoon Ass Jokes
America's Fakest Home Videos
Non-Music Television
American Heroes, a drama about soldiers killing muslims because it's necessary to save america
Safe Money: How to manage your debt so that you never pay principle, only interest.
Serial Killer reality show
Homeland Security 9.11 A show about the valiant efforts of counter terrorism.
People picking their noses. (this will be a top ratings getter!)

Everyone else will have to go somewhere else.

STOWEAWAY

I hope this isn't true. If so, there won't be much left for me to watch soon.

My shows keep dropping off one by one. And only Dollhouse & Castle have come in as replacements.

Life on Mars will be gone soon too. If Chuck goes, that leaves BONES and LIFE.

(Let LOST and HEROES slip by -- plan to watch on DVD perhaps, or perhaps not)

I have watched CHUCK faithfully every single Monday night. It's a must-see for me. What a shame.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Chuck and Lost are the only two shows that I must watch live unless there's some true emergency. Most everything else I watch off the dvr whenever I can get around to them. There have been several times I have re-watched Chuck as soon as it is over and just let Heroes record for another time.

I know things aren't looking too good for the show right now but I refuse to be discouraged. The show is just so much fun to watch I refuse to think about a Monday without it.

I hope NBC realizes what a loss it would be at the last minute...I mean, what other shows do they have, anyway?

Recently:

1 LAW AND ORDER:SVU
2 E.R.
3 BIGGEST LOSER
4 OFFICE
5 LAW AND ORDER
6 MEDIUM
7 APPRENTICE 8
8 HEROES
9 30 ROCK
10 KINGS
11 CHUCK

ER is gone. That's 8 series...well, 9 counting Life.
And Chuck is facing real competition! Just move Chuck a little & they'd have a solid HIT!

And from a different week:
1 MEDIUM
2 BIGGEST LOSER 7
3 HEROES
4 E.R.
5 LAW AND ORDER
6 CHUCK

It usually comes in around 6 or 7th in the NBC ratings. That's pretty damn good, isn't it?

Other than whatever is up against American Idol, Chuck is in one of the most hotly contested time slots of the whole week.

ABC - Dancing with the Stars
CBS - The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother
FOX - House
CW - Gossip Girl

I realize there is competition on other nights too, but this is ridiculous. And if they weren't stupid enough to take up five primetime hours next year for Leno Chuck might have a chance.

Sure hope NBC doesn't give up on Chuck just yet. I really like the show and never miss an episode. Got the first season on dvd and have been watching them again.

Heroes, Kings, Chuck. Kill the rest ;)

I have to say that

Select to view spoiler:

the loss of Tracy Strauss and Daphne in one episode

was a serious downer for heroes. Also, child actors are generally like an arsenic supplement.

People remember Dakota Fanning and the like for a reason: Because for every one of them there are 100s that SUCK!

And baby hero is just a dumb idea. I think they just cut the show in half. They completely FAIL to realize that the petrellis bore us to tears.

Select to view spoiler:

Matt Parkman minus Daphne is going to be an empty shell

which leaves us with Silas. I'll give it an ep or two before giving it up, imho, it just committed suicide.

Kings, OTOH, is being assassinated by the media which recognizes the message of war being an evil mess made by banks for control and power, and they don't like it, and the cover of blatant zionism was not enough to save them from execution. It did decent being opposite the President, but the media instantly heralded its demise.

By fall I suspect there will be nothing left on TV that I would say was worth the 42 min to watch.

I saw willow on a pretty pathetic 1/2 hour comedy, btw. Back to work

This is certainly good news. I was starting to worry. I wrote on my blog about this because I partly see the writer's strike to blame. In my opinion, you can't take a show that only had 9-11 episodes, take it away for 9 months or so and then expect people to come back for more unless they were die-hard fans to begin with. I think Chuck was still in the "Have you seen this show yet?" phase when it was stopped because of the strike. I'm definately glad they brought it back for season 2 and I certainly want MORE! Adam Baldwin is awesome in it as is Zach Levi. He's a lovable geek and I absolutely LOVE the Big Trouble in Little China references that have been made throughout the series.

It'll be ineresting to see what NBC does to try and survive. Right now, they are by far the lowest rated network, currently even loosing out to Univision. So, a show that is 6th among NBC's line-up is still waaaaaaay down in the overall charts. And, with NBC putting Leno on at 9:00 every weeknight next year, that's 5 hours a week less room for programming original shows. That leaves only 10 hours a week for all of their other shows.

They are going to be looking very closely at ratings in relation to budget, I'm sure. f it does come back, they may have less cash to make it with.

What I'm wondering is whether NBC could shop the show around. The ratings that NBC finds too low to generate revenue on its network might constitute a hit on another network. I mean, Dollhouse doesn't currently draw enough interest for Fox to keep it around, most likely - but if it were on, say, USA or TNT, it would be considered a standout on their network with the same number of viewers.

Friday Night Lights didn't do worth a damn on NBC - twice. So they shifted it over to subscription-only Universal HD, and it picked up, enough so that they brought it BACK to NBC's main network again. Where it's floundering, again.

Chuck might not be a hit for NBC, but it would damn sure qualify as a hit on that crappy junior network, SyFy. Am I right?

Yeah, but USA or another cable outlet wouldn't be able to front the cost for Dollhouse, as it currently stands. Cable shows get by with lower ratings, because they, generally speaking, are a lot cheaper to make.

Friday Night Lights doesn't really fit the mold, just because the nature of the show doesn't require a lot of FX, stunts, sets and whatnot, that even something like Chuck does need.

So, yeah, it may flourish on another channel, but it'd have to be done at a lower cost, which is probably inevitable anyway.

The problem with the cable channels is that they don't get the same viewership numbers as the major networks. Even The CW has such low numbers because it does not have as many affiliate stations as the other four networks. Yes, the numbers for Chuck would look great on USA or Sci-Fi, but would they be the same or less there? Even if it could attract the same number of viewers, could those channels afford it?

I really hate to say this, but the way things are going I get the impression that any positive spin anyone tries to put on this situation is just so much wishful thinking. Last night's Chuck had its lowest rating ever.

Rather than be upset at NBC if they cancel it, my anger is towards the stupid general public that refuses to watch great shows like Chuck and instead waste their time on "reality" shows and recycled procedural plots.
