I was on the Spider-Man 4 boards just now and someone suggested that the Black Cat should be in SM4 and should be played by Eliza Dushku. Though I like Eliza, I don't think she would be the best choice for the role.

Personally, I think SMG could pull off the role. She has the looks, she can pull off the attitude (See her as Faith in Season 4 of Buffy), and she can pull off the action.

The reason I want Black Cat in this movie is that the whole Peter/MJ thing has ran its course for now and could use a break, just like in the comics. The Black Cat has a very interesting relationship with Spidey. Completely different than the Peter/MJ relationship. It would definitely add some fire to the movie.

Any thoughts?

When I think of black cat I think drop dead gorgeous 10 all the way. I don't think SMG or Eliza fit that look really. They can act the part easily but lets face it there won't be much material for them to work with. Might as well stick to eye candy IMO. Elisha Cuthbert please.

Elisha Cuthbert was my original choice, along with Rachel McAdams. Rachel McAdams turned down a role in Iron Man, so I don't think she wants to do comic book movies. As for Elisha, I like her a lot and she can act well (She was great in 'He Was a Quiet Man') but I don't think she's good enough.

I think SMG could give the role more dimensions than Elisha, and yes I know that's vague, it's just a feeling I have.

I personally, I think SMG is straight up beautiful.

SMG as Black Cat??? Gawd, I hope not! They already spoiled Mary Jane by casting Kirsten Dunst.

I'm sorry, just my opinion here, but I really don't think SMG can act or is particularily pleasing to the eye.

Again, just my opinion. Please don't shoot me.

I'd much rather see Jamie Pressly as the Black Cat. She's atheltic, beautiful and has a dangerous, strong quality to her. Maybe she's a bit old, but I think it would work.

Personally, Jaime Pressly is much too light-hearted for me. I would want my Black Cat to be mature with a slight wild side, and I think SMG can pull that off.

I like Kirsten Dunst as MJ, third movie aside. She brought a very girl next door persona to the role. I think she worked well with Tobey Maguire. The too were great on screen together. She was great in Wimbledon. I'd actually like to see more of that side of her in MJ. Personally, for Spider-man 4, I wouldn't have that much MJ. They need to take a break from that for a movie.

And I can understand that everybody has their own type, so no hate there.

I too thought Kirsten Dunst did fine in SM 1+2 and also worked well with Maguire. In SM3 she appeared to have been asleep. Everyone else must have been as well to have released that pile of....

Bearing in mind that the previous films have gone for actors rather than names...

SMG can act given the right material and director but I don't see her as Black Cat, she doesn't have the right look - too 'flimsy'.
Nor Eliza. I just don't think she's a strong enough actor.
Elisha Cuthbert and Jamie Pressley could certainly carry off the look and again both can act under the right circumstances. Elisha being the better choice as she's closer age-wise.

If you want someone that can really act and looks great how about Michelle Williams? Don't know if she'd be up for that type of role though.

I could see Eliza in the role much more than SMG, just based on general vibe of personality.

If they use the character though, they'll probably go with someone like Meghan Fox.

How about Charlize Theron? I just checked, she and Tobey are the same age. I think she could probably pull it off.

Zoe: "Get it running again."
Mal: "Yeah"
Zoe: "So not running now"
Mal: "Not so much"

Yeah, I could see that. But after Aeon Flux (on which she broke her neck - and it was a flop to boot) she may not be in a hurry to play another spandex-clad heroine.

I've never been a fan of Charlize's acting. Something about it is off putting to me. She's hot as heck though. So, that part is at least nice.

I really like the suggestion of Rachel McAdams. I've only seen her in like 2 movies and both times she was pretty darn impressive. (no I will neither confirm or deny that I've seen the notebook so don't ask) She had that whole blow up over a magazine cover where they wanted her to pose nude or whatever. So, I'd assume her hang up with comic book movies is that women tend to be drop dead gorgeous in every single role in comics. Can't really blame her for that hang up, but at the same time I given decent writing they can still make for quality roles. It's not like any role she gets offered will be for a homely hunchback.

Rachel McAdams has made it pretty clear she's interested in being an "actress" and not a "movie star", and has turned down a number of high profile roles, not just in superhero flicks.

Chances of her ever being in one are slim to nil.

How about CGI (to make her taller) Kristen Bell? Certainly has the drop dead gorgeous thing going. I can't really see her acting the role but I was trying to think of super hot blonde actresses and I just slapped myself on the forehead for not coming up with her sooner.

Why would you need CG? She's not a midget. She's about 6 inches shorter than McGuire, but put her in some spiked heels, and it's all good.

For some reason I thought she was older than Tobey, or that he was younger than that. Weird.
