CHAPTERANDVERSE

Wow. That is a lot of bang for very little cash.
I have seen some excellent little character- and plot- driven films on youtube whose creators should be funded too, though.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I find it hard to believe that was produced for just $300. That may be how much money he spent out of pocket to get other people to work with him, but it obviously does not include the cost of his camera and the computer which produced the special effects. Maybe $3000 is closer to the correct figure, but even that seems too low.

$10,000-20,000 computer and tech college.

100s or 1,000s hours of work.

Hollywood is outsourcing all animation to 3rd world slaves.

STORYMARK

It's an impressive demo piece. But I wonder about the wisdom of giving the guy a feature right off the bat. It's got great effects, but has little in the way of actual storytelling, real acting, or varried pacing. We don't need more Michael Bays.

Which isn't to say he doesn't have the chops - just that this doesn't prove that he can do much beyond cool FX.

I think it's guerilla marketing.

He already had a TV production company, with $20,000 to $50,000 in video and computer equipment.

Software alone is probably $5,000.

I don´t think that short is all that impressive.. It´s not exactly like Blomkamp with his shortfilms..

I´d much rather see these guys get some support.
