Gotta say that my fav villian was Armand Assante, an underrated character actor (who BTW lives in upstate NY), boy did he have fun.

Diane Lane made for a swell-looking judge I must say. Judge Dredd and Demolition Man are two of my fav guilty pleasures - Bring on the Ham cause I gots the cheese.

Oh, since it was in mind, as I am poppin on in between rounds - one place we were serving a court order to didn't wanna open the door....

So I slammed the bottom of my fist against the wall a couple times and yelled "Hell-OOOOooo, Cursed Earth Pizza!", and when they cracked the door open to tell me to shut up, winged it right through the crack before they could slam it shut.

My parter turns to me, completely deadpan and goes "so that was an extra cheese special ?".

We did get what we came for, too, heh.

Well y'know it has it's faults but what blockbuster film doesn't? Ok so SERENITY is flawless but what else?!?!!?
The film looks great! It's of the era that constructed these dystopian sets from scratch in the vein of Anton Fursts (RIP) wonderful Batman set. And these old sets tend to give you more of a sense of an actual alternate world out there on screen. So that's good and I reckon Sonisall will enjoy that alot.

Plus isn't there a pretty nifty robot thing in there somewheres? It's been a while I must admit since I saw it.

I really can't remember much about this movie except that I didn't like it and was one of those movies where I thought I'd wasted my money.
Stallone fit the role perfectly though and Diane Lane is always hot. As for Rob Schneider I think the less said about him the better. I just don't find the guy funny at all, I know some do, but I don't.
Plus I seem to remember a scene where Schneider and Stallone are flying through the air (on his bike?) and it looked like a really bad composite against the backdrop of the city. And they were high up and going fairly fast but there was no wind and no hair/clothes movement. I may be wrong on this but it's how I remember it.

Being a kid he'll probably like it but personally I would introduce him to the comics and ignore the film.

I think, like 99% of comic book adaptations, its a good popcorn flick provided you've never looked at the original.

Now, I'm not a major 2000AD nut, but even I regard Judge Dredd taking his helmet off as sacrilege. Plus, the whole "Dredd gets accused of a crime he did not commit" plot is a bit "movies by numbers". He should be riding around doing his usual job and leaving us to ponder the morality of it all.

I'd rate Demolition Man as the better satire - and I'm completely agnostic as to whether the target is Liberalism or Conservatism. As a wise man once says, Capitalism is the exploitation of man by his fellow man; Socialism is the other way round

I enjoyed the film, just take it for what it is and remove the grey matter upstairs and enjoy the ride.

Just a tad older at 13.

I think 11 should be fine, nothing like a good sit down with a good film and the offspring under your wing.

I don't care what the so called critics thought of the film and whilst I disagree with the way hollywood altered things, a mind in neutral so called blockbuster and a bucket of pop corn way to spend an aftrnoon can not be beaten.

Hope your young'un enjoys it.

Verdict: Pretty good movie, the FX were really good for the time, almost as good as Star Wars, but too many people got shot. The robot was cool. "Can we swing by a cash machine?" at the end was hilarious.
Bottom line, very re-watchable.

The original budget got cut, so they could not afford to show the motorcycles as realistically (via FX) as they were in the original comix. Really only mattered to the fanboys for the comix, but that was used as an explanation for why the film did not perform as big as expected.

I think it came to too abrupt & simplistic an ending- made some of the drama that came before lose its punch IMO.

Well, there is that. And showing the faces of Judges was a big break with the comix based canon. While there was a fan base, it was mostly in the UK. That's where I picked up on it. So the movie was just another action flick in the US, and there wasn't enough action.

The casting was ironic, as Dreadd's face was based on Stalone's mug (according to the original artist). But that wasn't enough to make it a hit.
