I was wondering if the added Tales Of The Black Freighter helped or hurt the movie...

I haven't watched that version yet, not actually sure it's been released here, but I really want to see it. I knew I should have held off longer when I bought the Directors Cut.

I've read conflicting reports- some say the Freighter addition makes it more faithful & complete, others say it KILLS the pacing and distracts.
I'd trust a Browncoat review myself.

Perhaps there's a bit of truth to both sides. It might make it more faithful and complete, but even in the comic I thought it distracted a little. I found myself rushing through it to get back to the main story.

Hello,

I have not. I watched the Director's cut, and I watched Tales of the Black Freighter, and I watched Under the Hood, but I have not seen whatever combined product might exist of all these scenes melded together.

Watchmen (comic & movie) is the most amazing OMG-WTF take on superheroes I've ever experienced.
Moore is a genuinely gifted MF.

Hello,

I agree wholeheartedly. I like that he avoids stark black & white interpretations of things.

Chris, I haven't seen it personally, I have friends that've seen it, but I only have the Director's Cut.

The 'Ultimate Cut' is for the fans, it's the most complete edition there is, and it's for those who essentially wanted to see the comic brought to life exactly as it was. It's long, it's intriguing, it's probably good to see once.

But it also messes with the overall pace and tone of the film.

So essentially, if you want to watch the Complete Watchmen, get the Ultimate Cut.
If you want to watch a complete film, with no bloating, get the directors cut.

I've seen it, and concur - the Director's cut is the way to go. The Black Freighter stuff really does kill the pacing.

Are we talking about the version that is like 7 hours long and has the sailor story AND the added scenes in it?

If so, I've seen it. I didn't mind the pace so much. But I guess thats just me. Though I didn't exactly get to finish it. because like I said, it makes for a VERY long watch. But I did see most of it.

Who watches the Watchmen? Dirty Den with his dork hanging out?

I've not read the graphic novel yet, don't know how they compare. But the book writers refused to watch the movie, partly because Fox sued them and got a cut of the profits.

WARNING: Not something you want to see with your wife, kids and parents. Was the book really gay porn like the movie? I doubt it. Strange that none of the "reviews" mentioned this.

I've seen the 3-hour gay porn version of Watchmen, where the US Govt assassinated JFK and the Illuminati nuked New York City in a false flag terror attack to get their global New World Order dictatorship.

Anyone who disagrees will be shot by superheros...including pregnant wives and babies of superheros.

Tons of predictive programming, with a dose of whistleblowing. Rape with a happy ending. 100% of psychopaths are homos, for real.

Watchmen is often compared to Batman The Dark Knight movie, that censored 100% of The Dark Knight Strikes Again, where the US Govt nukes USA in false flag terror attacks, so Batman assassinated the US president and the entire White House administration by ramming his robot Batjet into a skyscraper...published 1 DAY BEFORE 9/11/2001. Using "THERMITE", Batman killed Robin - a/k/a The Joker - a mind-controlled slave for the president. 9/11 Truth is censored from Frank Miller's interviews by History Channel and NPR, who think it's funny that Batman assassinated President George Bush, er, Dick Tater Cheney.

Alex Jones reviews Watchmen on Infowars Radio..."It's all about false-flag terrorism and how good it is. The Illuminati is telling you what its going to do to you. It's all about the New World Order and Secret Societies and the Rockefeller Military Research Institute."

"It's a comic book about pop culture as viewed through a comic book, so I didn't see the point of making a movie. But I saw the trailer, and it looked phenomenal."

I can't decide if you rank higher on the crazy scale, or the stupid motherfucker scale.

You're pretty much off-the-chart in both respects.
