I fail to see how it's an "unproduced script" seeing as how.... it was like... produced.

I believe what the author meant was that Joss Whedon's version of the script was never produced and that ultimately what made it to the screen wasn't completely Whedon's original vision.

Well, I get that, but it's a bit silly. It's like saying Serenity was unseen because attendance numbers for the theatrical release were low. Very few scripts make it to the screen exactly matching the writer's original intent. And virtually none make it to screen without some changes.

OPPYH

I was one of the few that actually enjoyed Resurrection. Yes, the tense atmosphere was almost non-existent in this outing, but I thought it was unique in idea, and scope.
Happy to own all the Alien films on Blu-Ray, and hope very much that we get a true follow up to the Alien franchise someday, and not more AVP crap.

Yeah, it wasn't as bad as folk make it out to be - Aliens raised the bar pretty high, and after the wincefest that was Alien3 (YMMV, but I hated it) there were some pretty high expectations to meet, and it didn't...
That happens, but it ain't to say the flick is awful on it's own merits neither, Wincott and Pearlman deliver pretty well all things considered, and it's always good to see his eminent creepyness Brad Dourif weirding people out, heh heh.

I too see the obvious similarities between the Betty and Serenity in crew and style, pretty obvious in retrospect, innit ?

The camera work was okay, whoever was responsible for that tried to up the tension and creepy with some angle-work, but it fails cause the lighting is all wrong for that in the scenes where it might have worked.
Still, for as cheap as you can get the DVD it's worth adding to the shelf, sure.

Also, I wound up with the novelisation almost by accident, and the author does a good job of exploring some things which never get explained in the movie, like the reasons for Ripleys apparent apathy and how her viewpoint and relationship with the xenomorphs changes due to being cloned, etc etc.

And of course, two scenes which Pearlman had me rolling out of my chair, the scene on the ladder with the spider, lol - priceless, and there's one where he's leaning over someone like the big ape-man goon he is asking "Haven't you been paying ATTENTION today ?" and good heavens, that scene always reminds me of Kwicko for some reason.

So it's not, yanno, horrible - it just never quite met the expectations of both those who produced it, nor those who viewed it, is all.

You have to wonder if this is a running joke with the actor, by now.
