ok..so it's not truly science fiction..but I was wondering if anyone here has seen the show? I LOVED the book..love most stuff by Gaimen..but I haven't heard much on the DVD yet..other than it's BBC and well..that's it.
Ps: still morning the loss of Firefly..so I'm looking for more series' DVD's or movies or whatever to fill my eveings with my equally depressed over the Firefly ending hubby...any suggestions?
thanks :)

I saw it and enjoyed it. I liked the book better, but that's usually the case with almost everything

Amazon has the series on DVD:

Lola,

I bought the Neverwhere VHS set when it was all obscure and hard to find, and now it's on dvd and practically everywhere. Bitter? Nah. Cause it was WORTH IT. Yes, it is BBC, so the production value is kinda low and at times it almost feels like a stage production. But there are many many great things about it that outweigh the bad.

For instance, Paterson Joseph (the Marquis de Carabas) is ridiculously perfect for the role. Laura Fraser (Door) is also a near perfect choice. She really conveys the sorrow of the orphaned Door, and the fighter she ultimately proves to be. (Also check her out in Titus and A Knight's Tale - with Alan Tudyk!) Hywel Bennett and Clive Russell as Croup and Vandemaar are genius.

The sets aren't fabulous, but you do get the "otherworldly" feeling of London Below. Plus, since it's a BBC production, not much is left out. Not even Anasthesia.

DEFINITELY check out the series. Worth the money for sure. I could recommend a TON of series and movies to fill the empty, Nathan-less nights, but that'd take up a ton of room. If you're really interested in a detailed list of books, movies, series dvds...shoot me an email at slayer730@hotmail.com I'm sure I can hook ya up.

Yeah, the book rocked supremely, but the movie - not so much. Likely it isn't all that good because of the budget. It is true that that guy who played the Marquis was great. But bottom line - stick with the book.

I saw it before I read the book.

I enjoyed both a great deal.

See, in all likelyhood if I had seen the movie first, I would have passed on the book.

Hey guys, Neverwhere actually was a BBC mini series before it was a book. Neil Gaiman wrote the teleplay for the BBC and then turned around and wrote it into a novel.

I enjoyed the series much more. I found the book tried too hard to explain some things that we're done so nicely in the series and also the new sections didn't really add anything to it.
