Yes, we all know that Clip Shows suck, but Buffy/Angel has accomplished a Silent Episode, a Musical Episode, a Wedding, two Pregnancies, and many, many Character Deaths. I imagine that if Joss himself were to write it, he could pull a Clip Show off.

GILES: It seems we've been cursed to recall interesting or exciting memories from our past experiences, sort of like that time everyone started singing and Dancing...

EVERYONE ELSE: Oh yeah...

*FLASHBACK*

Yeah, a lack of a Buffy Clip Show is one of my only Buffyverse-related regrets.

I think a cool idea for clip shows would be to have the characters do commentaries during the clips.

Joss could probably pull a clip show off, but why would anyone want one?

CYBERSNARK

I've only ever seen two really good clip shows.

"Back Spin" was on Roswell Conspiracies, and was staged as a tribunal. Logan (the lead character) was put on trial, with his "charges" being displayed in the clips --which also happened to put the pieces together for the ongoing conspiracy arc (as Logan argues that he's been framed). By the end of it, viewers have actually learned something, because of the one bit of data that is revealed, like a key that retroactively unlocks the whole series.

The other was "The Unconquerable Man," from Andromeda. In the pilot episode, there's a gun/martial arts duel between Dylan Hunt (Kevin Sorbo) and his Nietzschean best friend/exec officer/betrayer Gaheris Rhade (Steve Bacic) (back when the show had promise; this was a really good fight scene). Dylan wins and goes on to be the series' lead character. The Unconquerable Man (the title refers to the Nietzschean species name: homo sapiens invictus --literally "unconquerable man") takes place in an alternate timeline, where Rhade was the victor, killed Dylan, and ended up as the series lead. The episode is "time-lapse," summing up three seasons of show time via the clips, framed by scenes of the Rhadeverse version, punctuating the ongoing arc.

The irony was that the show had long since started to degenerate into mush, and the Rhade continuity actually ended up looking like a better show (Bacic being a superior actor to Sorbo, and the Rhadeverse having an actual storyline to tie it together). When it ended and the "real" universe was re-established, most fans felt pretty gypped.

I have no doubt that Joss could've topped them both.

That andromeda episode was after the show went south, but I did end up catching it on a rerun randomly, I thought it was pretty cool too. Though I don't think it was really a clip show...

I seriuosly need the details and episode quotes for this series. I miss it like the devil...
You mentioned in a previous thread that you'd compile a list. I'll seriously kiss you if you can find the time to...
