This one's for the people that share less than popular opinions about our favorite characters from the Buffyverse.

Like the people who actually liked Riley (and Connor, for that manner).

The ones that didn't think "Once More With Feeling" was the greatest episode.

And finally, my own personal jibe:

The people that really didn't like Buffy for the last four seasons. Between her relationships with friends, family, and respective boyfriends, as well as personal choices, I really started to despise her, myself. By that time, I was watching the show for the supporting characters.

Of course, many won't like these opinions, but that's the point. So feel free to unleash all of those things you wanted to say, but didn't for fear of retribution.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

The opinion that I have that would probably be the most unpopular is that Spike is one of my least favorite characters, and I wish that he had not been featured in Angel Season 5.

THESOMNAMBULIST

Well I have a few too. I've never much liked Spike once he returned after Season two of Buffy. Thereafter he just annoyed the hell out of me. I know he was used to great comic effect in parts, but for me it wasn't worth it. I'd have prefered better rounded newer charcaters - Like the Vamp that Jonathan Woodward played. I know he was meant to be dusted at the end of that episode but his turn on the vamp was something we'd not seen before. Would have been nice to have him throughout the season.

Buffy I liked up to Season four. She was on a distinct development arc - then at the begining of four it was back to her moody self - which was done fine in season 1,2, and 3, so why go back there?

Similarly with Willow; the whole lesbian thing changed that character on a six pence, and she became this pious, irritating little upstart.

Giles and Xander ruled throughout all the seasons but became underused in the later seasons. Pity.

But for me personally the real crime was season 6! It just insn't 'our' charcaters in that season and while I liked the musical - it was buy no means as favourable as 'Hush' or 'Restless'. The Buffy/Spike relationship undermined all that came before in the show and reduced Angels curse in his own show as pointless and redundant. All that wonderful poetic love tragedy that had taken place and underpinned the very fabric of 'Buffy' was just washed away with contrivances.

However and I must stress this - I LOVE the show in spite of all this moaning. I'm currently in the middle of season two and I think I still laugh as much as I did the first time I watched Buffy.

I'm kind of a lurker on here, and don't really post all that much - but I just wanted to say that it's a relief that there are other people who aren't onboard with the Spike obsession that most people seem to have.

I feel like a lot of the problems with the last two season of the show came from an over-emphasis on Spike and his quest for Buffy's love (which, I must say, he decided upon after a single questionable dream). I find Spike to be overdone, irritating, and not nearly as interesting as the bulk of the rest of the characters. The idea that Buffy would banish Angel from Sunnydale in the finale in lieu of keeping Spike at her side seemed absurd to me, and a punch in the face to those of us who aren't all that fond of Spike's character in the first place.

I also agree about Willow in the later seasons. She was easily one of the best characters until her relationship with Tara, which caused her to completely change her entire persona in Season 4. By Season 6 and the very badly done "magic addiction" storyline, she bore absolutely no semblance to the character that we'd all fallen in love with way back when she was pining for Xander and falling in love with computer demons. While I liked the idea that Willow evolved into a stronger person, I feel like she went from one thing to another at the drop of a hat, and very little emphasis was placed on the most interesting aspect of that change - the transition.

"You can know all the math in the 'Verse, but take a boat in the air you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her home."

I disliked buffy from season 4 onwards but I think it shows the strength of the show that I still thought it was wonderful whilst loathing the main character.
