Besides the obvious...I've already heard that Amy will return, as will Faith (obviously), and possibly Riley.

What would you like to see happen with them, or someone else?

Principal Wood was cool, and he'll likely be tagging along after Faith.

There's Spike, obviously. (Yeah, I'm a B/S shipper. You got a problem?)

Ooh --CLEM!!

I didn't think of Clem. I guess he did clear out of town before the shit hit the fan, didn't he?

I love Spike, but I'm not a shipper. Of course I don't have a problem with anyone else being one. I enjoyed him having feelings for her, but was against it being reciprocated, at least until after he got his soul back. I'd still like to see him back, to know how he survived and what he's up to, but since he's a ANGEL character now, and ANGEL is owned by another company, I'm not sure how much catching up we'll get to do with them--yet. I'm personally still hoping for a Buffy/Xander union (he's her "strength", damn it!).

I liked Principal Wood, too. I'm guessing he became President on another show. But I'm just guessing.

Agreed on the whole Spuffy thing, JWhedonAddict.

I'd like to see Riley come back. I read something in one of the interviews about the US government perceving the Slayers as some sort of terrorist outfit, so I'd wonder what his perspective on the whle situation would be.

I can't wait to find out about Riley, either. I can't imagine he'd agree with the government on this. He trusted Buffy with the decision to have Spike's chip removed. But then again, he might see rogue slayers as a dangerous thing...his "experience" with Faith, and then there's crazy Dana from ANGEL. Either way, should be interesting.

I'm guessing Angel wouldn't be a viable choice. Though I'd still like to have him and buffy back together. Other than that Oz Oz and more Oz please. He was the best character in the whole run of Buffy IMO. Maybe he could go all wolfy and gobble up kennedy and then make Willow see that she still loves him. Oz is the bestest.

I loved Oz, literally, since "Inca Mummy Girl" when he looked at Willow like she was the goddess every other guy believed Cordy was. But they ruined him for me in "Wild at Heart". Maybe if the story had expanded over the entire season and explored problems in the relationship beforehand, I would've been okay with it, but I just never bought that Oz would cheat on Willow. The first time didn't count to me because it was the wolf, but the second time, he knew damn well what he was doing. Except Oz wasn't really like that, he would have never cheated on her!!! It made me so angry. Just because Seth Green was leaving they decided to destroy the one thing we loved about Oz.

Of course I'd be behind the whole eating Kennedy thing, though. I'm just saying.

Someone else coming to mind is Ethan Rayne. The government has a problem with Buffy and the Slayers she created and he's presumably still in prison. Surely the government would use his connections to their advantage, thus opening up a whole other can of worms?

EMBERS

Oh I love Ethan Raynes, I hope they include him...
and I REALLY love Amy, I was so glad she showed up in the 7th season of Buffy, but I'd like her to be in the comics.

I know that Brian K. Vaughan (the creator of 'Runaways') is writing a Faith arc.... and I'm sure it'll be great!

But really I love everyone! I want to see:
Oz
Clem (the loose skin kitten poker demon)
Drusilla
and of course Andrew (I'm a big Andrew fan!)

Hmm, since we have confirmation about the regular cast...Will, Xand, Dawn, etc (but what about Giles, from all the previews, he isn't really seen/involved as much?) I would guess...probably Ethan Rayne (who is probably involved with the Amy thing) and Spike. Just because for me, Spike=fun, and snark, and yay bleach blondiness!

I'd actually LOVE to see Marcus Hamilton again, if only to compare him in comics to Jayne in comics. *grin* It ain't gonna happen, though. Everyone I actually love and would like to see in S8 is dead, anyways. *mourns Tara*

I honestly can't believe I didn't think about Dru. Maybe because we won't get much Spike and Angel stuff in BUFFY Season 8? The ANGEL characters are owned by a different company, and I guess I would think of her mainly as an ANGEL character now because of them. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Dru decided to swoop in for some revenge for "turning" Spike against her.

Giles isn't supposed to show up for awhile, I think. Joss said he didn't want to bring in all the regulars right away, but they WOULD be there.

By the way, I love Andrew too!! I know he'll be in, or at least mentioned, the first issue.

I tried to mention Dru this afternoon, but the site hiccupped and the post didn't go thru.

The interesting thing to remember about her is that we haven't actually seen her--the present-day, in-the-flesh Dru--since she ran out of Spike's crypt at the end of "Crush", way back in BtVS S5. It doesn't seem like it's been that long, because she popped up again in S7 (but as the First, or in flashbacks) and AtS S5 (again, in flashbacks), but it is.

I think she might show up in the comics. Not to give any spoilers away, but something I read recently said that Drew Goddard (yay! ) has started work on the story arc he's doing that begins with issue #9, and among other things, it'll see the return of a fan-favorite villain. How many characters fit that descrip that aren't either dead (not vampire undead, but really dead-dead) or reformed?

Wow, didn't see that about Drew Goddard. I'm gonna have to sit on that one awhile...literally. We've got 9 freaking months to find out!

Suddenly, it seems like forever.

Besides Joss and Goddard, the other two writers from the show that'll be working on the comics are Jane Espenson and Drew Greenberg. Joss, Goddard, and Espenson are all cause for a couple of 's... Greenberg always struck me as very average.

Wish they could've gotten Doug Petrie instead, but hey...

I knew the Drews and Jane were among the writers, but didn't hear Goddard's comment about the return of a villain. Joss has said that he hopes more will come aboard, it's just that these are the ones who've said yes so far. (Come on, Doug Petrie & David Fury!)

It didn't surprise me to see that any of these three agreed to it. Both Drews were longtime fans before they were hired. Goddard even said that when he visited the set once, it happened to be the day they were filming (near end of Season 6 spoiler)...

Select to view spoiler:

Tara's death

. He hadn't been spoiled beforehand and he literally freaked out like "Somebody DO something!!!" It was so cute hearing that, 'cuz I would've been the same way!

Also, Jane has said before that even though it was nice to be free to work on her own projects, she would much rather work with Joss.

Yep, I love Drew Goddard and Jane Espenson, too. Drew Greenberg's eps. weren't my favorites, but he's got something the non-BUFFY writers don't--experience with these characters. He knows them, he loves them like we do...and that's very important to me!

In the new BUFFY/ANGEL mag, Joss said that those writers (including Steven DeKnight) did say yes, but that it's not a definite thing that they won't be too busy and actually will be able to do it. So it's not as set in stone as we (I?) actually thought.

My thoughts exactly, except maybe without the Kennedy getting eaten part...

I'd also really like to see Ethan...

I have to agree with Zeek about Kennedy, sorry. She's a brat who needs to be put in her place. Or eaten! I never hated Dawn the way most people seem to...Kennedy's that for me. Well, it was never as bad as ruining the show or lessening my love for Willow, but still. Not looking forward to hearing about her again...unless she goes through some personality changes!

Well, I think Goddard at least seems to be set in stone, and of them all, he's by far the one I'd most want involved (best writer not named 'Joss Whedon' either show ever had ). The blurb I read online, I think from someone at Dark Horse, said that Goddard's already begun work on the issues he's writing, and gave a couple of details (the one I already mentioned, plus a note on where it would be set). I'm pretty sure it said it was issue #9, but in one of the replies in the lettercol at the back, it says that Brian K. Vaughan is doing #6 thru 9, so Goddard's might not begin until #10.

I love Drew Goddard as much as you do, but we can't leave out Tim Minear in that!!!

Except he never wrote for BUFFY. Still think it's a little strange that he was supposed to write the Spike tv movie that didn't happen. He never wrote for Spike, did he? Doug Petrie wrote 'In the Dark' and Tim was gone by the time Spike became a regular on ANGEL.

BTW, in case you didn't know, Drew Goddard would've written the Willow movie, and Brian K. Vaughn would've written the Faith movie.

Yeah, that's the reason I didn't mention him. Only "Angel"--no "Buffy". That, and the fact that when ranking the "Angel" writers, I'd probably put Greenwalt ahead of him (and of Joss, too, actually ). But if you're grading their work on both shows, I'd put Greenwalt behind Goddard because Goddard excelled on both--Greenwalt, on "Buffy", was solid but unspectacular.

And to get back to the original topic of the thread for a sec, I know she was a one-shot and not a recurring character, but even if we never actually 'see' her, I hope we get some mention of Dana (the crazy slayer) and what happened to her.

Entirely pointy.

I didn't know Amy was returning. That's exiting.
I know it's unlikely, but I'd like to see vampire Willow return.
Perhaps, Amy could facilitate her return, somehow.

Yeah. I imagine we'll have to find what happened to Dana. I doubt it could be good though. Poor girl.

Yep, Amy will appear early on, I believe.
