I'm obsessed with Wicked, and I choose to blame Joss

I've never seen the play, not even halfway through the novel ('tho I know there's even a sequel and I'm beyond excited about it) yet, but I already bought the soundtrack about a month ago, and I can't stop listening to it. "Defying Gravity" is a personal favorite. It's actually replaced "Going Through the Motions" as the song I wake up to every morning.

Why do I blame Joss?

I liked the Wizard of Oz, and that was about it regarding musicals. But it didn't inspire me to be interested in the whole Wicked deal. It was "Once More With Feeling" and missing my actual favorite witch (if you have to ask who I mean, then you really do need help in the worst way...) that did me in.

So there it is...I blame him for my new obsession--until August when my other current one returns!

Regardless of OMWF, I am obsessed with Wicked as well. Defying Gravity is one of the best songs but I like The Wizard and I.

"it's always complicated and at some point someone has to draw the line and that is always going to be me. you get down on me for cutting myself off but in the end the slayer is always cut off. there's no mystical guide book, no all knowing council, human rules don't apply. there's only me....i am the law" -Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Personally, I kinda prefer "No Good Deed."

Cool justification for Evil, shades of Demona's "What have I. . . What have they done!" in Gargoyles.

Great, now I'm stuck on the idea of a Demona AMV. . .

A favorite word of all Bostonians.

River: They're teasing you. WICKED was a novel that filled in the backstory of the Wicked Witch of the West from WIZARD OF OZ. It was turned into a Broadway musical a few years ago. I got into the soundtrack and book in between BUFFY Season 8 comics (I was so excited when Xander called Willow 'Elphaba' and I actually knew who he was talking about!) and became so obsessed with it, I had to share it here. It seemed to me something fellow Buffy fans would be interested in...was beginning to think I was wrong until recently.

Everyone else: I finished the book last week. Strange how much some things appeared to have changed from the book to the play. I realize it must've been for time or something I guess. Still haven't seen the play, only going by the soundtrack still. My first favorite is "Defying Gravity", but my second is "No Good Deed" (should I be worried that I can relate some to both songs and Elphapa in general?!). Third would be "The Wizard and I".

Link to the official website--hope it works.
If you click on the Chicago part, there's a trailer for it. There's also sound clips from the soundtrack on there as well.

You're so lucky...wish I could afford to go. My uncle bought my aunt tickets to the Chicago one for her birthday in November. She doesn't know about it yet. He doesn't seem to know that she isn't as interested in it as I am...she borrowed my CD over a month ago and still hasn't bothered to listen to it or return it. I think she'd be more interested in going just to be able to brag to me about it because she knows I really want to go.

Oh Wicked is, well, wicked. I read the book shortly after it came out, saw the play and then read the sequel, which I actually liked better than Wicked. Loved the play, and yes, it has some variations which I rather enjoyed, thought it tied up some loose ends. I would highly recommend it.
