I knew Faith wouldn't go to the Dark side! She even wants to help others full-time! This issue kicked ASS!!!
The dialogue was again spot-on! Giles was great!
And the end was chilling with that new, no-nonsense big bad...he's playing everyone, and for keeps!!!

All hail Joss & co. for this one!

So say we all? Chrisisall

I really loved this!
I loved how Faith kept trying to get Gigi to see things her way, while engaged in a VERY exciting fight...
and I was as shocked as Faith at the way the fight ended!

I loved Giles managing to come through, and I really almost cried at Giles sharing his feelings w/Faith.

I am SO happy that Faith doesn't end up alone, she has always needed someone (some one besides the Mayor!) to really be on her side.

This was a wonderful story arc, and of course now Giles has the Twilight book so you know he'll start to figure out stuff.

I am really loving BtVS Season 8!

I also picked up (but haven't yet read) After The Fall, and spied the Heroes graphic novel (Dear Santa...).

I knew Joss would get me back into comics....

I hope you like it - I loved it....
of course I had loved Brian Lynch's 'Spike: Asylum' and 'Spike: Shadow Puppets'

It has a different look and feel than BtVS S8, but then those two TV shows were kind of different too.

Giles' cool points just went up by about a trillion.

There are a lot of ways they could have ended that one, and I'm happy to say BKV and Co. chose the best route. I think it was a realistic way for all of the characters to react to their given situations. And strangely, Buffy seems to have as many issues (if not more) about what happened between her and Faith. I wonder how they're going to handle this in later issues. And speaking of later issues, Season 8 is supposed to have around a thirty-issue run isn't it?

I know there's a stand-alone next, but does anyone know who writes after that? Seems like it was supposed to be Drew Goddard.

That's my understanding of it.

Loved Giles unsaid reference to killing Gloryboy.

yeah, a lot of fans had always been bothered by there being no consequences to that act,
but Gile's statement makes it clear that he has kept it secret from his slayers, but because of Faith's situation he is willing to share some of his secrets with her.
I always felt that Faith had never gotten the relationship & guidance that she deserved from Buffy & Giles (which left her vulnerable to the Mayor who really was good at forging relationships, and really came to love and care about Faith)
The ending of this really made me happy about Faith's state of mind...AND it still leaves plenty of room for problems that need to be resolved in the future.

I do hope they give us some back story at some point which tells us what happened after 'Chosen' to separate Faith from Wood and Buffy and all the new Slayers.

yeah, the one actor in all of the Buffyverse who is actually reading the comics,
and he is totally under represented
(and hard to recognize when he does show up!)

I'm a big Tom Lenk fan though...I got to see his play once when I was in LA
(not really a one man show since he had actor friends and a lot of his family involved)
it was all about going to conventions, the stuff fans give him, and say about him online, and silly stuff from his early career (when he actually tried to do some modeling)
He is VERY funny and clever
(and it was an exciting performance because when I went Joss was there w/Alexis & Allyson Denisoff, and Jane Espenson was sitting in the back of the theater and I got to meet her!)

embers is SUCH a geek!

Like I said, Lenk should have been the STAR of Transformers, not just a cameo thing, that would have made the movie GOOD!

so let me solicit your recommendation: should I go out and rent 'Transformers'? If just to see Tom
(who I didn't realize was in it, otherwise I would have seen it in the theater!)?

I did see 'American Dreamz' just to see Adam 'Warren' Busch, and they cut his part too much, he was brilliant though in his tiny tiny scenes....
and I've seen his group 'Common Rotation' many times
http://www.myspace.com/CommonRotation

And I love Danny 'Jonathan' Strong too, and I can't wait for his made for HBO movie about the stolen election in Florida to get finished!

embers is a totally trio-groupie!

Well, the movie sucks, so I'd say wait to see it on cable...Tom only has one humourous line, and is on camera for like, all of a minute and a half, being one of a group of smart kids brought into a government think tank near the beginning.

A real waste, considering who they picked as the star...

I actually like Shia LaBoeuf (think that's how you spell it). He's really great with comedy, and the movie would have completely sunk without him.

But definitely agree with the Andrew-love. He should have been head of the code-breakers, not the blond lady.

You seriously think the movie wouldn't have been twice as good with Tom as the star?
*he asked in an incredulous voice*

Happy New Year y'all.

Continue to serve my mysterious ban from FFF.net with occasional respites, so I've not been able to post much recently...

Loved the ending to the Faith arc, I hope the Faith-Giles relationship stays firmly father daughter *shudders*

I had thought about the cyborgs as well being connected with Twilight - they do fit the military/mystical enemies we are seeing in the comics so far, as well as sharing the physical appearance. If that story ever comes up, I wonder if we will see an Angel character appear in the Buffy comics to explain? I am not reading Angel season 6, but is Lorne a possibility? Did he make it out of L.A. before everything went down?

Anyway, nice to be able to post here again. Hope I can read any replies!!

Oh you should be reading the Angel comics, it is REALLY getting good!
And judging from a cover a saw for an upcoming issue I do think Lorne will be in the Angel: After the Fall....

I don't think Giles & Faith will EVER get romantic, I think they are finally able to respect and understand one another and work together though...
which is good for both of them IMO.

WESLEY4EVER

I can't bring myself to read the angel comics. The main reason I was still watching that show was because of Wesley's character, which was my favorite one on any TV show ever. Without him, I don't know if I can enjoy Angel ever again. If it weren't for Firefly, which I discoverd after wathcing all of my sisters Buffy and Angel DVD's in one summer (sleeping, eating, drinking, all optional) I would never have forgiven Joss.

That's cool. Because you know more than half the time in the Buffy/Angelverse death is ~not~ the end. Heck, most of the time it's a promotion!

ooooo I love your signature! And it is true, death can lead to a whole new exciting 'life' (or just a lot more pain and suffering for our beloved characters).
I loved the latest Buffy comic, they are definitely moving Buffy into the 'twilight'/gray areas here....

But I have to admit that I am REALLY hooked on Angel: After the Fall and I'm on pins and needles to learn more about what is happening there!
