Buffy and Angel timeline questions...

I am new to the "Buffyverse," and I have some questions. I've been a browncoat, and I LOVE all of Joss's other projects, but I've just started getting into Buffy and Angel.

My question - I know when all the Angel episodes fall in comparison to the Buffy ones - I know which order to watch them in...The question is where does Buffy Season 8 fall? Does the comic have any correlation to the 5th season of Angel? Or should I finish up Angel, and then read the Buffy comics?

Any help would be...yeah...helpful.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

If the Buffy Season 8 comics begin shortly after that series' television run ended then it would correlate to Angel's fifth tv season, the sixth season comics coming a year later.

There's no real consensus about when S8 takes place. The word from the Powers That Be (in this case, Scott Allie, the S8 editor) is that it picks up about a year-and-a-half after S7 ends, which would put it in late-'04 or early-'05. But some fans dispute that, citing references in the comics to newer pop culture happenings like Daniel Craig as Bond, Amy Winehouse, Heath Ledger's death, and the upcoming new "Terminator" film.

S5 of "Angel", on the other hand, begins 19 days after S7 of "Buffy" ends (May of '03), and continues into early -'04 (evidenced by one character giving another a Valentine's Day card in ep 14). So either way you slice it, AtS S5 comes BEFORE BtVS S8. (Also add to that the fact that AtS S5 was written years before S8.)

And if you're going to ask at some point where "Angel: After the Fall" is set, as compared to S8, well, there's no way to answer that without being incredibly spoiler-y. Read 'em in whatever order you want! (Just finish the TV shows first.

"After the Fall" is set after "Angel" S5 ends. Some fans weren't happy with the series finale, accusing it of ending on a cliffhanger. Personally, I felt that it was the perfect open-ended note for the series to go out on, but either way, AtF helps resolve the events of the last few episodes of the show. (Whether it was an unnecessary bit of fanservice or not will be up to you to decide.)

For the buffy video games (namely Chaos Bleeds and the one for Xbox - I can't remember the title), where do they fall in the Buffy timeline?

Can't give you an exact date coz it's years since I played it and I don't have it anymore but the first game is set in either S2 or just after it. They are still at Sunnydale High and we all know what happens to that it at the end of S3. And I don't remember the mayor being around so I'd say before S3 begins.

I'm fairly sure Chaos Bleeds has Giles with the Magic Box so that must be set sometime after he buys that. Can't remember when. S4 ??

I'm sure a search for the games will yeild more accurate results.
