Help please, looking for Wash's vest (TV version) for a costume.

The headline pretty much says it, I'm at work right now and can't do too much pic scouring. Has anyone ever figured out what kind of vest Wash wore in the series?

It looks a lot like a tactical vest of some type. It also seems to resemble the design of a pilot's survival vest, but the ones I've seen are usually a nomex mesh.

I'll be scanning screencaps and the DVDs over the next couple days to get a better look, but maybe someone out there has already figured it out. As usual, any grand assistance won't go amiss.

Ok, so upon close inspection in screencaps and the DVDs, the best views of which are in 'Jaynestown', the vest is virtually the same exact design as a US Military pilot's survival vest SRU-21/P.

The vests found easily on eBay are all an Olive color (Wash's is black), and are mesh front and back (Wash's has a solid fabric back with the same center-cut hole and V-shaped center, presumably for fit adjustment)

Apart from this, the designs are the same, down to the pocket placements, even.

If anyone can help me find a black version with the solid back, or find out if Wash's was just modified by costumers, I'd pledge my undying loyalty to you, even once you're all corpsified.

Mutt-

I am almost certain I saw those vests at my local military surplus store. There is a major airbase here, that may influence inventory. If there are any nearby cities with airbases, you might want to check out surplus stores there.

You would think some rabid browncoat would have already found those vests for sale somewhere on the internet. If you haven't already, I guess you might try doing searches of other Firefly fan site forums.
