Good VoIP

Skype is really messing around with my credit card at the moment and has cancelled the orders I tried to place, even though I've entered everything correctly.

Does anybody here use VoIP? Can they recommend any good alternatives to Skype? Google Talk requires one to have a Gmail account, which I don't have, so are there any other good ones apart from Google Talk?
