Hey yall! I am new to this website as of 2 days ago. I had never even heard of firefly, until I saw Serenity in theaters. Ofcoarse I fell completely in love with the movie and needed to know what this firefly was all about. When christmas time rolled around I recieved the DVD box set and again was bedazeled by it's sheer . . . Well it rocked, Anyways I started surfing the web for anything I could find on Firefly/Serenity, and heard alot of a group called the "Browncoats". Now I don't exactly know what this group is or what they do? Sorry If I sound like some stupid kid, but I wanna know something I ask. Anyways If someone wouldn't mind telling me anything they know, like what they do, how they work, how to join, then that would be great.

You're already a Browncoat. You "joined" our ranks when you got hooked on Firefly and Serenity! It's that easy.

The Browncoats were the Independents in the big galactic civil war. Malcolm Reynolds and Zoe were among their ranks. They fought - and lost - a huge final battle at Serenity Valley that lasted for weeks and had a very high casualty rate. Still, the Browncoats refused to lay down arms in the face of an overwhelming enemy force.

It's that last part that makes all of us Firefly fans "Browncoats". We love our show (and now our movie!), we were beaten by an overwhelming force (Fox network), but we refuse to lay down arms and surrender. We fight on, because we're fighting the good fight. We support the cause by buying DVDs and merchandise, and by spreading the word to them's don't already know.

This is probably a good time and place to give a HUGE thanks to everybody who had a hand in getting Serenity off the ground again: Joss, the cast and crew, Universal, and maybe most overlooked, THE FANS. I wasn't there at the beginning (never watched the show when it was on TV), but I'm here now, and I'm a Browncoat. I'll fight beside ya, and if you can't walk, I'll carry ya. :)

Same as them...
I too saw the movie before the show. Fell in love...saw the movie 7 times at the theatre (because it is great and never gets old). Bought the disc set...fell more in love...elevating myself to obsessed (but in a good way.)

I joined this site like 2 months ago, mebe 3. Time flys. It is really addictive. There is always something to post or laugh at or read or comment or look at or...you get the idea. Have a great time. I know I do!
