I’m doing my part and this is how….

I was in Target over the past weekend. They have kept Firefly on the end-cap with the new releases since before the movie came out. After to speaking to an employee one day, he said they can barely keep them in stock which brought a huge smile to my face.

Sorry back to the point.

I was in Target over this past weekend and on auto pilot, I was always check on Firefly and make sure they are stocked. I turn the corner to see this older man (probably 55) with glasses on his perched on his nose, a midnight blue derby cap, and of course the checked blazer with brown elbow pads.

I did my sweep through and sure enough, they had ample supplies. As I walked passed something hit. This could be my chance to save a soul from never seeing the greatest show on earth (and I’m not talking Barnum & Bailey’s).

I turned around, cleared my throat and proceeded to say the following:

“That’s really worth the money. Once you enter the verse, there’s no turning back”

“I’ve heard that”, Professor Firefly responded to me.

“Sorry about the intrunsion. Just wanted to share the joy.”

“Do you think a teenage boy would like it?”, Professor Firefly stated looking at me over his glasses

“I think everyone would like it. I pulls you in. Makes you feel it was developed for you personally. I’m not crazy about Sci-fi. In fact it collected dust on my shelf for months before I watched it. I regret those months.

“Hhhhmmmm…that’s interesting. Thank you.”

“Your welcome.”

At this point we both turned in opposite directions. I glanced behind me and not only did he have a copy in his basket, he was putting another one in it.

I know I've stepped out of my comfort zone more than a few times to share the joy with strangers. (Not to mention the fool I've made of myself with friends and aquaintances!) It just has that effect on me... But I feel like that kind of personal interaction and enthusiasm has got to make an impression on folks - far more than ads or even reviews can.
