I've seen lists of the Whedon hat tricks a few times. It always has four people listed. Carlos Jacott, Jonathan M. Woodward, Jeff Ricketts, and Andy Umberberger are the people I see listed. Bob Fimiani played a codger demon and a groundskeeper on Angel, Mr. Ward on Buffy, and Elder Gamman on Firefly. Why is he never given credit for being a hat trick? Also, does Joss Whedon count as a hat trick? His voice appeared as a newscaster on Buffy. I'm not certain if that counts or not. That's all.

Hat trick implies a total of 3 of 'something'. He was on Angel twice, Buffy once, and Firefly once: total of 4. So Hat Trick does'nt apply to him.

How many Jaynes does it take to change a light bulb?

Two. One to try to put it in and another to find a bigger hammer.

Jeff Ricketts was on Angel twice. As the watcher guy and also as the big bug demon in season 4. He's always counted. In this case, hat trick just means "on all three of Joss' shows". Joss used the term in the commentary for the episode Serenity when talking about Andy Umberberger.

Yep, like hockey, where the term originates, the connotation is at least three, or in this case at least one showing on each show {although to me that makes it more the Triple Crown (horseracing), but I'm just strange.}

The term is somewhat flexible here as with hockey. In the sport, a hattrick was three consecutive goals by the same player. Now it's if they get three goals in the entire game.
