So there, I was, thinking to myself, "Man, everyone is crazy! Chrisisall is missing some good s---!" I had thoroughly enjoyed all of season 3, and was about 2/3 through Season 4. Loved most of it. I thought the Wesley character transformation was one of the most well done I had ever seen. I loved the early part of season 4, with him holding Justine in the closet, and trolling for Angel at the bottom of the ocean. And Lilah! Big Wesley and Lilah fan(Wilah..? Lesley..?). I laughed my ass off during Spin the Bottle. Relished the return of Angelus and Faith. The whole Connor and Cordelia was terrible, and I guess I was able to just kind of block it out.

So, yeah, there I was. Laughing uncontrollably as Willow says "I'm seeing someone" to Fred. And then all of a sudden the show turned on a dime into a ridiculous soap opera for the rest of the season. I found myself actually fast forwarding through much of the episodes. I love Gina and all, but the whole Jasmine-love stuff was.. nauseating. And my hatred for Connor grew. His actions throughout the season just made no sense. What the hell happened to the show?

All was restored to normality for the season finale though.. Not that it was exciting or anything, but it just felt more like Angel. I believe the last line of the episode was Fred's - "Who's Connor". What a lucky gal. I wish they had erased that part of my memory , too.

Anyways, just my opinions. Feel free to disagree.

I've seen 1, 2, and 5 now, and watched the scenes from 3 and 4 on the special features.
Bottom line: Angel just ain't no Buffy. It's an excellent show, but it's not up there with Firefly, Buffy or Dark Angel (for me, I can see why others LOVE it, though).

Actually, just came back from Blockbuster, where I was able to purchase Angel season 1, disk 5 (They'll sell almost anything they rent, it turns out) to have the Faith eps- once again, I'm giddy!

Oh, and I really dislike the kid who played Conner, even though I've only been exposed to him in season five....Grrr
I've never liked the Gunn character (though I have no problem w/the actor).
Don't like incest, either.

Anyway, those are my personal peeves.

Chrisisall, owner of more Faith episodes!

Thing is, I don't disagree on any particular point. Wes' 'coming of age' by sleeping w/ the enemy was a great twist.

I concure on the whole Conner thing as well.

Willow and Fred....oh, how funny! Good stuff.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

Who? Cordy and Conner? They aren't blood relations, and Cordy only took care of baby Conner for a few weeks before he was kidnapped, right?

Sure, it was stupid and kind of gross but I don't really think the term 'incest' applies.

Okay, wrong word, but there's no word for the act of bangin' a kid that grew up in another dimension where time passes faster that you took care of as a baby.

So far in my viewing experience, I agree that Angel is not as good as Buffy, overall. But Buffy ground to a halt for me after finishing season 5. And I'm not quite sure why... I didn't hate Dawn, like I expected to(based on feedback of others). I just wasn't drawn in to it... alot of the episodes were kind of boring for me. Of course "The Body" was crushing(having just lost my mother to cancer a few months before). And I love all things Spike. But to be honest, when Buffy "died", I just didn't feel like I was "there", like at the end of seasons 2 and 3. And even 4. So then I switched to Angel. Don't know if I should continue Buffy watching. Sounds like Season 6 approaches some of the ridiculousness of Season 4 of Angel (Evil Cordy - Evil Willow?)

And I completely agree with neither show approaching the brilliance of Firefly. All of my Buffy/Angel watching is an attempt to capture some of what made Firefly so great, since alas, it is no longer.

Wait a minute...you thought it turned into a soap opera AFTER the Jasmine arc started? Seriously?!

Good point.. I guess, like I said, I was able to block out/ignore the Cordy/Connor stuff, and enjoy other aspects. But then all of that was gone.

Wasn't the kid-bangin' all part of 'Jasmines' plan?

I dunno, Season 4 is on loan...but not 3!!

Evil Willow came first!

Seriously, after season 5 of Buffy, I swore off it. My mom died of cancer in the late eighties, so The Body destroyed me. Then Buffy dying (Okay...again) was the last straw.
But in time, I wanted to see the end, and I'm so glad I did. Like everyone told me, sure there are some 'meh' eps in there, but the good outweighs the bad, and Spike is a major part of that in season 7.

Go for it Chrisisall

No, no, no...Evil Willow is FANTASTIC! Well, Truly.Evil.Willow is fantastic. I'm-on-my-way-to-being-evil Willow is not so great. But Truly Evil Willow is worth it.

Cordy was never worth it, IMO.

I place Firefly above Buffy which is above Angel...but mostly because Firefly never had a chance to disappoint. It was all new and shiny and original. It was on its uphill journey and never had a chance to plateau or even fall. The other two, while still excellent television, were around for so long they couldn't help some plateauing.

Yeah I liked season four up until the moment Cordy and Connor do the beast with two backs. Thereafter it's strange.
I loved the episode with Fred and the hand eating midget monster thingy. That guy cracked me up! Also loved the concept of perpetual darkness - I'd have liked this strung out a little more.

But on the whole the "Who is Connor?" was just too much...

Still love Angel though. Some genuine profound TV in there.

On a sidenote: Watch everything Joss Whedon does. It's gold-dust!!!!!!

Dood, I didn't know the Gunn character bugged you. I think in one of the commentaries Tim Minear mentions they really didn't know what to do with the guy, and over the course of the seasons it does show.

Pity because I did like the guy when he first showed up.

Oh well

He was good in season 1 (all, what? three episodes?), it was in season 2 that he seemed out of place and forced. His 'street' character got sloppy, and too funny, and then directionless.
I don't know how he faired in 3 or 4, but he seemed a little better in 5, but still weak...

IMO, Season three and four was some of the worst television I've ever seen and I sadly blame Firefly for it. And the suckiness of Season 6 on Buffy. Loyal Buffy fan to the end, Joss pretty much abandoned those two shows for Firefly. And it's a double edged sword.

YOU JUST DIDN'T LIKE SEASON SIX BECAUSE,
well, just because ya didn't like it...I mean, that's all.
I thought it was a necessary transition to season seven, which I loved.

I agree on BtVS6 and AtS4, but AtS3 worst television ever? I mean yes it had it Dad and Provider, but it also had Billy, Lullaby, Birthday, Waiting In The Wings, Sleep Tight....
