So have you heard of the Marvel Civil war? I haven't read comics in years (except Firefly of course) so I'm not really up on the Marvel verse anymore. But I read on yahoo news about the Marvel Civil War. Apparently a bunch of heros and villans were in a battle and hundreds of civilians died. Then the government launched the Super-Hero registration act. The heros then split into two camps...one has Spider-Man and the other has Captain America. Spider-Man reveals his identity Captain America does not. Anyway things must have changed a lot from when I stopped reading the mags (soon after they went up to $1 per issue). In the Marvel verse that I remember that makes no sense. Here are my reasons why?

1) Spider-Man wore a mask cause he wanted to protect himself and his loved ones from those who would harm them (including the police).

2) Captain America was created by the government and therefore they already know his secret identity.

3)Thor is Thor...no secret there.

4)Sub-Mariner doesn't exactly wear a mask and I don't think the US gov has jurisdiction in Atlantis anyway.

5) The X-Men have already faced mutant registration so for them its kind of a rehash.

6) If people haven't figured out that Tony Stark is Iron Man yet then they ain't bright. Besides there was more than one Iron Man.

7) The Hulk...well it depends on which Hulk is in the picture right now. At different points, Hulk was a villan, his ID was know, and he couldn't change back to Bruce banner so there you go.

8) Everyone knew the FFs ID already.

9) Didn't the avengers work for the government?

10) X-Factor did.

Anyway as I said maybe things have changed. If they have and someone can explain these little mysteries to me I'd appreciate it. But from where I stand this looks like it would have been better in the DC verse where heros and villans are more clearly defined and everyone loves the heros. Thats not always true in the Marvel verse where often the heros are mistaken for villans anyway. And I don't remeber the gov ever using the term Super Hero in the Marvel verse until now. But I could be wrong.
