More Firefly data-mining turned up this image of a Blue Sun Ship.

I was surprised by the lack of posts for this thread - am I out of the loop here? Were there older posts on the importance of the Blue Sun Company that I missed? For Joss&Co to have modeled a special ship for them, I would tend to think that they would have played a much bigger roll in later episodes. Do we think the "hands of blue" men worked for the Blue Sun Company? In all of my repeated viewings of all of the episodes, I didn't get this connection. Maybe I just enjoyed the dialogue so much I missed some of the hidden clues...

Okay, I just did a google search for Blue Sun and Firefly. It seems that Joss hinted that Blue Sun would play an important part of the story arc later on. Any clues as to what this means? It seems too obvious that they are simply the "secret police" of the alliance - it has to be more than that. They are selling products to the masses after all. Are these prodects drugged? Are the Blue Sun commercials we saw some form of mind control? Do we need to get Mulder and Scully on this case? (I would have suggested the Lone Gunmen, but they were canceled by fux.)

2nd update: (may contain a spoiler)
I just scanned through Ariel and realized that the ship that landed at the hospital carrying the blue hand fellows, was the ship shown above. Since this ship is referred to as the Blue Sun ship, then that gives it away, doesn't it? It means that the blue hand guys definitely work for the Blue Sun company, which is a bit of a spoiler, isn’t it? Once again, am I stating the obvious to some of you?

OK, right off let me say that ship looks cool. And in no way am I disparaging it with my coming comment. I have to say this though. When I first opened this thread, I thought I was looking at a semi-intelligent, automatic Floor-cleaner from some sort of future Jetson's-type existence. That said, I will crawl back into my hole.

I agree, it is certainly not the "best looking" ship in Whedon's 'verse. But, this is the backside of the ship, for one thing, and smooth clean ships have never looked as "real" and cool as dirty, used ones (remember the Millennium Falcon from star wars?)
Plus, the blue color of this ship makes it look like a kids toy.

If they had called this an Alliance ship in the article, they would not have given away the connection between the 2x2hob guys and the Blue Sun company. But they did, so now we know. (or at least we think we know).
