Wouldn't the commander of the Alliance cruiser have realized that Book had some juice? I assume that they'd check ids, and even if Book hadn't been forthright with his id, the commander's lackeys did search the ship thoroughly.

Or, perhaps Book did use his id, and persuaded the commander to let Serenity and the crew go.

The ID that Book is using clearly does not reveal his true identity. We can see that even though Book's presence on Serenity gives rise to suspicion, he is still treated with a deference consistent with the priority given to his medical treatment in a following episode.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

My guess is that if Book did indeed use the same ident card he did in the episode "Safe" then the Alliance commander suspected it might be counterfeit. When we see the questioning of the crew he seemed suspicious of all of them and their presence on Serenity.

Who's to say that Book used his actual ident card though. Perhaps he used another to avoid being identified by the Alliance.

Good point, I'd never thought of that. He definitely didn't show them the one he showed in safe. If he showed one it must have been a fake.

"Haha, mine is an evil laugh."

My theory is he is an operative of the highest order. Probably a 33 degree mason. Maybe shriner connections. Could be the man in the grassy knowle. Well I believe he became a double agent became sympothetic toward the independents then got religosity to heal all the dirty deads he has done.

Did alot of shooten at the abby shepherd.
