The Skinny:

Dark Horse have released a preview of Joss' Season 8 Buffy comic, giving us a glimpse of the first few pages.

The Speculation:

I'm all for this 'ship! I've waited years for this to happen and I think it would be great!

That being said, finding out what happened to Spike and Angel is bound to raise some angsty issues with Buffy, so a boyfriend may not be her top priority.

No word yet on the shippy status of Willow, Dawn and Giles. Speculate away, people!

What I would like to know is how this idea came into being. Where does it come from? If this isn't true, Joss is probably laughing at us for thinking it... If it is, I actually think it's a good idea.

Do we still have to hide the 'spoilers' (if they are as such)? Anyone who reads this thread knows what they're getting into...

Good point - I guess we don't need spoiler tags since the thread topic is pretty much a spoiler warning.

Okay - Buffy and Xander sitting in a tree - K I S S I N G - yea or nay?

I say yea. And Nay to Willow and Kennedy. I've warmed to Kennedy a bit since I wrote some fic involving her, but that ship still feels way too forced. I'd much prefer to see her for herself, not as a convenient lesbian squeeze for Willow. (I mean, geez! She lost her 'always' less than a year before! C'mon, people!)

I'll agree with you on the Kennedy thing .I could never warm up to their relationship.Willow seemed to have gotten over Tara a bit too quicly for my taste..And I was very partial to Tara,so I migth be prejudiced there.

Please don't hate me ..I must admit that I never liked Xander,unless he was being funny.He never grew on me .I really hated how he treated Anya ,who was my favorite scooby.I can't accept that Buffy would date him.My best friend is a guy & I'd never endanger that freindship by dating him.Ok - I'm married & he's gay ,but you get the picture...

I still want Angel with Buffy..but that's a whole other thread

I got Angel's series a few days ago..so i'm finally getting to see all the crossovers again!

And I just pre-ordered the first 2 comics !!! I'm very excited about them ...

Yeah, I was a big fan of Tara too. *see signature* Considering how limited her on screen time was, Tara's character was beautifully developed. Helped in no small part by Amber Benson's excellent acting. Considering how much the relationship had built up (Willow was willing to destroy the *world* when she lost Tara!) it just didn't make sense that she'd have someone new so quickly. Especially with all her other issues.

Honestly, it felt like a knee-jerk reaction, people panicking because they killed off a lesbian character. But to me Tara wasn't a lesbian character. She was a character, a fascinating, believable character who also happened to be lesbian. Being a lesbian did add another fascet to her, but it wasn't the only thing about her. Far from it.

I'm wandering off topic. Where was I?

Oh yeah. I don't hate you for not liking Xander. I think you're nuts

but I don't hate you. Nah, that was the great thing about all the Buffy characters - they were so realistic and true to life you felt like you knew them, which of course meant you could love them or hate them!

I know Xander wasn't the greatest boyfriend on earth - tp any of his girlfriend - but he did have serious family issues. It was always made clear what a sucky home life he'd had - sleeping out in the back yard every Christmas to avoid the drunken fights at home, his dream in 'Restless' that gives us a glimpse of his terror of his father, the constant joking references to the everyday bitterness he had to deal with from his family... raise someone as sensitive as Xander in a house like that and you're pretty much asking for trouble. It shaped the person Xander became the same way Willow's lonely, empty home shaped her.

All that being said, Xander did learn to deal with everything after season 6, and he was a lot more mature and at peace with himself by the time the series ended. I could definately see something sparking between them. Then again, I *am* a bit biased that way!

Well put about Tara ,DTH .I always loved how when she started hanging with the Scoobies she was not immediately accepted..Do you remember how she said "we'll show her ,her insect reflection "regarding Glory and nobody knoew what she meant ? Most times when I speak to people here I get that same reaction.She also had the best wordrobe ever !

And thanks for understanding about my Xander opinon..We may not agree,but I love talking it through...

regarding buffy and xander, I would have said nay any time up to the end of season 7, it wouldn't have been right, but they were both so much more mature by then, and presumably moreso by now, so I say a big YAY

and joss and the writers would surely know what a big deal it would be and make it work, that's not something they'd do lightly... (I hope)

Hell yeah, YAY!!! He's Buffy's strength, dammit!

Xander is my favorite character, though Willow is a close second, so I think it's great. It's long past time for him to get the girl of his dreams, and for Buffy to be in a lasting, emotionally healthy relationship. I think he would have grown by now from his relationship with Anya, as Buffy would have from Spike, Riley and Angel.

Also, as much as I loved Anya as a character and thought they were a cute, funny couple, I really never saw them as a long-term thing. I wasn't entirely unhappy when he left her at the altar. Sorry for her, yes, but I was kind of ready for him to move on.

I ended up being so obsessed with Xander and Buffy getting together that after the show ended, I started looking to fanfic for the first time, but sadly couldn't find anything that wasn't stupid or gross.

I went into a comic store for the first time ever today (I ordered Those Left Behind from Amazon)! I explained I wanted to subscribe to Buffy Season 8 and the guy was enormously helpful. It was called Deadhead comics I think. I was suprised how much it reminded me of a second hand record store!
