TRUEBLUE

A man was arrested - in an undercover sting, so police put time, effort and money into capturing this dangerous criminal - for feeding the homeless.

"Mr Montanez was filmed by undercover officers on Wednesday as he served "30 unidentified persons food from a large pot utilising a ladle," an arrest affidavit said."

The food was fine, he wasn't poisoning them or anything - which I fully support as being illegal, murder is frowned upon, so appearantly is feeding hungry homeless people without a permit (BTW only 2 permits are given each year, so the homeless people have two meals to sustain them for the entire year: don't know what they are complaining about really).

So what does this say about our world?

*Edit* sorry, should have put this in real world -- this is the first time I have posted, usually just tag or put in a log entry...

I will think of a signature later. It will be so stunningly brilliant your entire life will pale into insignificance when compared to the few words that will be written here.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

They arrested him? For feeding the homeless? What is the world coming to when someone can not perform an act of kindness for those down on their luck?

Ah, I see, according to the article Disney and other businesses in the Orlando area don't want tourists and other patrons to actually see homeless people for fear it may cause customers to leave. So, it's about money, not the "law". What a joke.

I really do despise how money makes people act.

SIRI

TrueBlue,
This is a difficult post. I've noticed some people just don't want to touch. I suspect there is conflict between the ways we would like to respond and how we feel comfortable responding. It seems so ludicrous that anyone could be arrested for feeding hungry people. I suppose if the concern is that the food is safe would be one thing. It seems here that the issue is they were feeding immigrants w/o a license. Was it because they were suspected to be illegal immigrants or not. We've had laws passed in my locality against renting to illegal immigrants and it's supposed to be up to the landlord to check. I'm wondering what is next. Will we be checking birth certificates to buy groceries? Go to a movie?
