Since the first thread on this subject was misspelled, I'v created this one.

An enraged Alec Baldwin unleashed a volcanic tirade of threats and insults on a child, his own daughter.

TMZ.com obtained a recording of Baldwin's verbal attack on his 11-year old daughter, Ireland. On the recording, Baldwin can be heard saying to his child, "You are a rude, thoughtless little pig." "You don't have the brains or the decency as a human being." He further says, "I don't give a damn that you're 12 years old, or 11 years old, or that you're a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn't care about what you do as far as I'm concerned."

Here is the audio:

According to TMZ.com, a family law judge was so alarmed after hearing the tape, she has temporarily barred Baldwin from having any contact with the child.

Here'a transcript of Baldwin's tirade:

Quote:

Hey I want to tell you something, okay, and I want to leave a message for you right now, cos again it's 10:30 her in New York on a Wednesday and once again, I have made an ass of myself trying to get to a phone to call you at a specific time. When the time comes for me to make the phone call, I stop whatever I'm doing and I go and I make that phone call at 11 o'clock in the morning in New York and if you don't pick up the phone at 10 o'clock at night and you don't even have that goddamn phone turned on.

I'm tired of playing this game with you. I'm leaving this message for you to tell you that you have insulted me for the last time. You have insulted me. You don't have the brains or the decency as a human being... I don't give a damn that you're 12 years old or 11 years old, or a child, or that your mother is a thoughtless pain in the ass who doesn't care about what you do as far as I'm concerned.

You have humiliated me for the last time with this phone and when I come out there next week. I'm going to fly out there for the day just to straighten you out on this issue. I'm going to let you know just how disappointed in you that I am and how angry I am with you that you've done this to me again.

You made me feel like sh!t and you've made me feel like a fool over and over and over again. And this crap you pull on me with this goddamn phone situation that you would never dream of doing to your mother and you do it to me constantly and over and over again. I am going to get on a plane and I am going to straighten your ass out when I see you.

Do you understand me? I am going to really make sure you get it. That I'm going to get on a plane and I'm gonna turn around and come home. So you better be ready Friday the 20th to meet with me. So I'm going to let you know how I feel, about what a rude little pig you really are. You are a rude thoughtless little pig. Okay?

Big fuckin' deal.

My mom talked way worse to me as a kid. She probably is a little pig.

I'll bet her cell phone is on when she goes to see a movie.

I think it says a lot more about Kim Basinger than it does about Alec Baldwin.

Quote:

A friend of Alec Baldwin's just contacted TMZ to say that the actor called Ireland last week and apologized for his outburst. The friend added that Ireland is the most important thing in the world to Alec and that he is frustrated because over the last six years, Kim has "tried everything" to alienate Ireland from him.
And THIS is going to help how? I know it can be incredibly hard to be patient with a child who pushes your buttons all the time, especially at the instigation of the other parent. But throwing temper tantrums reveals many unflattering things about Baldwin: (1) He's not adult enough to let his feelings be unswayed by an 11-year-old which means that (2) she has control over HIM. I susepct he's a control freak who lacks ocntrol over the most central part of his life: himself.

PS. 6ix- Maybe that's why you are the way you are.

Gotta say it doesn't shock me. I'm not exactly clued into the "hot gossip" about celebs - nothing could bore me more - but even I've come accross more than a few stories about Baldwin's filthy temper. Most involving him screaming at Kim at the top of his voice before storming off and leaving her apologetic and humiliated in public. And they all happened before the divorce.

Honestly, if my Dad acted like that in public I'd avoid calling him too!

It's also pretty telling that he isn't sure if she's 11 or 12... I don't care how out of control your kid is, that is no excuse for being out of control yourself. I deal with teenagers all day and they do and say a lot worse than just being rude. I have never called them names like that, because I am the grown-up and no one learns appropriate behavior from someone who can't control themselves of their own behavior. She is his child. He is supposed to teach her how to act and help her with her choices, not rant and rave at her about being selfish...( I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he was likely drunk)

Don't everyone's parents talk that way???

I don't know...if you take the following words:

Pig
Thoughtless,
Brains (as in lack of)
Shit
Crap
Ass
Rude

His tirade is actually age appropriate considering how teenagers suck and all.

The most damage will be inflicted by the media and Kim Bassinger as they teach her to fear and hate him for being a monster.

He will be able to write a book titled "The 7 words to use to loose your daughter for good"

Meh, I would never talk to a kid that way myself, might take issue with their behavior sure, but they learn from us, we set the example, and if we set one like that, they're gonna live up to it.

My simple rule on it is not to say anything to a kid that I wouldn't let the kid say to me.

Turn it around, how would you respond if your kid addressed YOU in such a fashion ?

*shrug* not so hard to treat a kid like a person instead of a pet, I have no idea why so few people manage to.

There is nothing appropriate about Baldwin's comments to his daughter. No parent should ever talk to his child like that. A person who can’t verbalize his frustrations with any more tact then this especially when directed at his 12 year old daughter, probably doesn’t have the maturity to raise a daughter.

What kind of father doesn’t know how old his daughter is? Baldwin is probably a classic Hollywood narcissist, even at the expense of his daughter. His principle concern doesn't seem to be any aberrant or unruly behavior from his daughter, but rather that his daughter wasn't sitting there by the phone to answer it when he called. Is there any indication in what he said that he is concern with anything other then that his daughter simply wasn’t there to make him feel important? And frankly, I really can’t blame the daughter for not wanting to be there when her father called if this is the kind of abuse she receives from him.

I wasn't really offended. I'd like to think my skin is just a bit tougher than that. :) Hope I didn't offend you there... too much. Don't look like I did.

You're probably right anyways. I'm a mess. Just don't think it's too proactive to spend the rest of my life blaming my parents for my problems. My uncle did that and he never got over it before he ran outta time. He taught me a lot, but that was probably the most important lesson he ever taught me, however inadvertently he ultimately went about doing it.

I still think that Baldwin's kid is a little rich brat and the whole family probably acts like a bunch of little assholes to each other and probably anyone around them. I worked for a rich guy and he had two kids. I even got tricked into babysitting his son one day when I thought I was going fishing on his boat. (I was warned beforehand not to go fishing on his boat...lol). I wasn't too sore about it though because I was only 19 then and the man paid me about $10,000 more a year than I'm making now. The boy was cool as hell to hang around for the day anyways. The daughter on the other hand was demanding and bitchy. I only met her two or three times at the office. She wasn't even 9 years old yet and I couldn't believe how she talked to people, especially her dad. Then again, I knew her mom and that her mom's favorite hobby seemed to be to let other people with less money know that she was better than they were so it really came as no suprise to me.

Don't feel too bad for the kid though. She's loaded and she's got her whole life ahead of her to mess up and blame on her dad. Nicole Richie turned out fine, right?

Huh?

I don't give a shit about this and think it doesn't belong in RWED, so that makes me so mentally deranged that I'm a danger to others in case I get a gun? Where do you work, a marijuana plantation? Because I don't think the boss would be too happy about you smoking the product while at work.

You mean it should make the headlines whenever a parent loses patience with their bratty teenage child and gets a temper tantrum? That's going to be a lot of headlines.

Or did you mean just when celebrities do it? In which case, since when did RWED become a celebrity gossip column?

If the media was really so concerned for that brat's state of mental health, they wouldn't be trying to make this into a large issue for everyone to see.

This is a little girl who is incapable of understanding the emotional complexities of adulthood, who only should be feeling love and security and admiration for her daddy, has to be subjected to this type of of mental abuse laced with profanity and threats? This cannot be spun to either accept it or excuse it. I am much more shocked and offended hearing this Balwin filth than any racial or political guffaw that is hyped and drummed into us daily in an endless parade of called-on-the-carpet violator's of our collective thin-skinned society's sensibilities.

Perhaps though, this is not the way he really speaks to his child. Maybe he had the worst day of his life and then she just pushed his buttons the right way and then some asshole got a hold of his conversation and the world is going to judge him and his parenting based on one thing that he said to her. From the story, the government has already done that.

Haven't you ever blew up when you shouldn't have or said something hurtful to someone you cared about and felt terrible about it afterwards?

I think the real tragedy is that we have technology today that allows us to pry into everybody's private lives and it's even more sad that most people have nothing better to do with thier lives than criticize, belittle and judge others, when not one person in this world is righteous. If you want to see an asshole, you don't have to go to far.... just look in the mirror. I'm not trying to insult you. Hate to say it, but I think I might have actually enjoyed that movie more than the BDM. I HATE the BDM.

I agree with almost everything you wrote. I certainly admit that I spend much time contemplating my inadequacies, and I am not one of those types with an over-inflated ego who can say or do no wrong, but I don't look in the mirror and see an a**hole. You do?...Really? I somehow doubt that. OK..yes Balwin lost it, everybody does, but I swear my father and mother never once cursed at me or my sister growing up, and they got divorced when I was 16 and so on and so on. I know that movies and tv have de-sensitized all of us to alot of this, but I think life for a child should not be an R-rated movie. I also agree with you that publishing and airing this is just as vile, or perhaps even more vile than the act itself. It's designed, for a recklessly indifferent profit, to feed our hunger for the purient and sordid aspects of life.

Yeah, the BDM wouldn't have drew me in like the series did. In part because it seemed like Joss was trying to attract the same morons who made National Treasure a hit. 'Big Dumb Action Movies' just suck.

I dunno, maybe it's just a personal scar. My girlfriend made me watch National Treasure one night and refuses to watch any Firefly ep more than once. National Treasure just had some the worst writing I've ever had to sit though. A six-grade drama club could have written a better script.

I just despise that canned Bruckheimer crap that's scientifically devised by chemists to sell to an American public weened on television commercials. Makes me wanna holla....

Well... There's a lot of things that I've done in my life I'm not much proud of and I don't think that trend is anywhere near it's end. I'd like to think that my good deeds outweigh the bad ones though. I don't think I see an asshole everytime I look in the mirror, but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't see on on more than one occasion. My real point, minus all the drama, was along the lines of let he who be without sin cast the first stone.

Personally, I feel sorry for all of these celebs. ALL of them. Millions, nay, billions of people worldwide judging them on little snippets or soundbytes, very similar to this one. I would have said the same thing if this thread was about what Kramer said or anything Lindsay is texting that gets her ridiculed or Britney shaving her head and attacking Paparazzi. I think the Paparazzi are scum and diserve anything these celebs do to them when they retaliate. They are a disgrace to the profession of Journalism and should not even be considered journalists, especially in the court of law... they are stalkers for profit and they have the distincition of being the only people in the world who are more inhuman than lawyers, who are just two rungs under my shit themselves.

SergentX - Can't disagree with anything you said here. It's all so formulaic. When I saw the BDM, I thought to myself that I've seen this story 10 times already, just with a different cast and characters and a different setting. Aside from a few gems, that's all hollywood movies are is the same story retold a billion times. It's just a little more clever and new when they don't use the old title and tack a II or III on the end of it.

They're making a remake of Escape from New York too I hear. I'm not looking forward to that at all. Wasn't Escape from LA a remake of Escape from New York already? (Though admitedly I really liked the second one much better than the first, if for no other reason than the big FU Snake gave the Alliance when he shut the whole world down with a press of the button and faded off into the darkness smoking an illegal cigarette)

Alec Baldwin has a temper...what news.

Maybe Alec & Mel Gibson should get together & form "tempers anonymous", of course Gibson was intoxicated at the time & recieving a ticket from a cop & he got deep fried by the press.

Any bets about how long Baldwin's tirade at a minor will even be news.

BTW, National Treasure is a very popular movie...my 9 year old loves it.

Please remember that barring a few notable exceptons Holloywood is about as original as a man named Morris Morris who works for Xerox. In recent years even the actors have een complaining about the lack of originality.

In the old days, the 20's - 70's celebrities had almost total privacy from the masses, no internet, no 24 hr tv, just maybe a few mags, a few gossip columns, and tons of studio hands of blue-types to hide everything. I can almost see why they're always pissed 'bout something these days. It's a monumental dilemma for them...they both despise and need the papparazzi. They've lost a lot in that regard. On the other hand, no one put a gun to their heads to do what they do as a career or lifestyle choice, and they certainly reap the fianancial and esteem-fulfilling rewards they deserve or don't deserve. Also, some love to excersize their absolute rights of free thinking and speech and put themselves in these situations because, again, they choose to be outspoken on something, sometimes annoyingly outspoken and vicious, and then they become more than an actor or celebrity, they become just people, therefore certainly alienating and angering a part of the population that hold different values and opinions. No one any any side, of any belief wants to to hear someone say that they're wrong or stupid. When famous folk get up in the morning and look in their mirrors what do you think they see? the famous person, their real selves, or the sold brand commodity? It must be quite schitzophrenic. I think it would drive me a bit mad, the constant peeking, prying by the public at all I did. I can see both sides too, the potential loss of identity and privacy, or the power, wealth, and privilidged experiences in thier lives.

Heh... You're welcome to the crack at it if you get the chance.

Myself.... well I think it's been at least five years that I've decided that I would never want to be famous for anything. I wouldn't wish celebrity on anybody. The closest thing I would ever want to be would be a nameless guitarist for a good rock band. None of that Emo self hating shit either. Yeah, both movies were essentially the same plot, although Escape from NY(original) was much darker.

I got my girl to watch them back to back, and she liked them, because they didn't even TRY to make them realistic, they were intended, and much better as conan-type "Epic Adventure" of the mighty hero stripe, and Kurt Russell really did bring it home as the larger-than-life Snake Plissken.

Doesn’t belong in RWED? Based on you’re not wanting other people to discuss this? I guess you’re an Alec Baldwin fan. There are nineteen forums on this board and in all but two I would agree that this topic would be inappropriate. But this forum is designed to handle all the crap that gets pumped into this board, including discussions about Baldwin's abusive parenting so that it doesn’t pollute the discussion in other areas. No one is spared, including and especially Alec Baldwin fans.

I also don’t understand what exactly people are using to draw the conclusion that the child is a “brat.” Based on Baldwin’s fruitcakey comments? I don’t think that is sufficient to draw that conclusion. I don’t follow the celebrity stuff very closely, others may know more about this, but based on what I see here, there is no reason to assume that this child did anything wrong. Rather the evidence seems to suggest that Baldwin is an abusive father.

I wasn’t a real big fan of National Treasure either. If for no other reason then that it propagates a lot of stupid myths of about American history. And I really can’t imagine how there could possibly be a sequel to this. It’s more like a video game then a movie.

Here here! No mudder's milk for you, you drink the best whisky we got! I see the same. Why defend Baldwin and lay blame sideways to the daughter, a little girl caught in the middle of something between her parents no kid should even ever have to know about? Their divorce battles have been waged for half this girl's life. Walk in those shoes for a while. Even if she was the worst daughter and brattish, or even a snake-head brewing witch, it would not be her fault. And he can say those words to her at this point in it all? And for what?- What was the trigger? Yes, the dastardly & dreaded, and rarely-used pre-arranged missed phone call appointment agony that only a child can cause? How do you fairly judge this? His words are alot more offensive and psychotic to me than what Imus muttered in a few seconds, but how long did daddy go on and on in his rage with her on the phone? Who's the more damaged? Rutger's outstanding gals, African-Americans, all of society, or his own little girl? It takes me a while to read through it, I can only imagine what she was going through; like a deleted scene from The Cooler, while he's travelling and being busy, and just calling in to shake up all the troops.

I agree. I don’t know if either one of them is necessarily newsworthy, but a father being a complete psychotic ass to his adolescent daughter is far more disturbing to me then some stupid Imus joke gone wrong.

But I suppose there are two reasons why people want to avoid any discussion on this topic. The first is that they are Alec Baldwin fans or they sympathize with his fruitcakey politics. I suppose there are still some of those left. Although Baldwin has pretty much ruined his career, largely because of his behavior, at least that’s my understanding. So they marginalize Baldwin’s behavior and blame it all on his little daughter. I don’t know whether Baldwin’s daughter is a good girl; maybe she’s not, but she’s an adolescent, not a middle aged adult, so it doesn’t really matter. Attacking his daughter obviously has some kind of ulterior motive behind it.

Also, I never quite figured out what the whole Imus thing was about. The media went off on Imus under the pretense that his comments were racist and sexist. But Emenem and dozens of others in the Hip-Hop/Rap industry have said far, far, far worse, and the media never had nearly as much of a problem with it (although there has always been a degree of tension of it.) So clearly there’s an ulterior motive in the Imus thing too, but I’ve not figured that one out. Maybe they went after Imus because they know going after Hip-Hop is likely to be rather Pyrrhic.

I'm one of those that think's he's a been great actor all his career, really one of the best. He carved out an undeniable charm and suaveness, coupled with a fierce intensity to say the least. He just needs a little rehab 's'all; shouldn't really be any big deal out there. I think I saw once there is a special wing at Betty Ford for ultra-talented, life-stressed beyond the masses ability to comprehend. ie. sweating out the monthly bills, etc. crowd. 9 1/2 weeks of watching Bachelor Father DVDs seems appropriate for total forgiveness by all. I do hope though not to hear or have to read of any continued, or elevated mis-behavior by the handsome, iconic, blue-eyed and beloved Hollywood E Channel larger than life at times..."Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Alec Baldwin"

By the way, when's his next political speech? The campaigns have begun out there. I want to see and listen carefully to who gets his support along the way. He's always had the necessary firmness of his beliefs and the steely cajones to be a one-man Swift Boat Crew of 10 destroyer in a can, and I really want to experience his message of understanding through communication, non-violence, and universal love. Big question is, will he be quoted on AOL and TV anymore? I really don't know how or if this is playing out in the media, but it's been fun for me here to just let it fly.

Adam Baldwin sure doesn't like him. He gets pretty defensive whenever people mistake him for one of Alec Baldwin's clan. He's said several times he's scumbag. "Hollywood Trash" was the term, if I recall correctly.

We should go look on the OB and see if Adam is comment on this silliness.

Alec Baldwin is a great actor. There’s no doubt about that. I remember him as Jack Ryan (the American James Bond) in Hunt For Red October. But then twenty years of stupid comments later, he’s playing the second hand sidekick roles, when he should have been the next Harrison Ford. This attitude that he seems to have, as illustrated by his comments to his daughter, has probably done irreparable damage to his career.

Really, who doesn't like KIm Basinger, either currenly or at some point in the past? She never stole a freight train to my knowledge, she started out in small stuff, worked hard, and rose to the absolute top at one time. I always thought she never looked better than how she looked in The Natural, putting her irresistable moves on quiet 'ole Wonder Boy.

I don't personally see it as a big deal. It was probably just a personal conversation about a personal issue that has been taken out of context and blown up massively by the media. Only Alec Baldwin and his daughter know what actually happened and why he left that phone message. My dad has said heaps worse stuff to me my entire life, so maybe I'm just desensitised to this type of stuff.

Alec is a real man for screaming at his 11 yr old daughter. Hurray for him. Partial blame must also be directed toward Kim and her lawyers, for airing this out in the public. On the one hand, it's tacky and wrong to use your own daughter to a pawn in this divorce, but then again, if Alec wasn't such a gorram overbearing , self absorbed a-hole,.....

On the bright side, I've been pointing out on other boards that bring this up that ADAM Baldwin isn't related to Alec, and shouldn't be confused as one of the Baldwin brothers. Naturally, I'm adding that Adam was in Firefly and SERENITY, posting his pic, just for good measure. Hey, why not advertise our big damn heroes when ever we get a chance?

From where I sit, the fact that folks would bother to defend Alec Balwin's abuse of his daughter reflects a culture of abused children and abusive parents protecting the status quo. I read many people who were abused similarly by their parents claiming that it's "no big deal." These folks are simply protecting their own parents. In psychotherapeutic circles this is called "fusing with the abuser."

When a parent abuses his young child, the child must fuse with that parent as a matter of survival--whatever abuse the parent chooses to heap upon the child, the child is bound to accept as right and appropriate. As the child matures, she has the opportunity to discover that her parent was/is wrong.

Many, many folks never come to that realization. Having desensitized themselves to the abuse as children, they've grown up desensitized to it and repeat the old programming they got as children--they say, "The child probably deserved it" or "We don't know what the father was going through," etc. That's exactly how children rationalize their parents' bad behavior. Such folks really are regurgitating what they learned in kindergarten! Robert Fulghum would be proud!

Also, I've found that many people believe that how a parent chooses to treat his child is absolutely no one else's business. This is also reflective of a culture that protects the parent's prerogative to abuse his child. We've all witnessed parents abusing their children in public. When I've spoken up and objected, the parent invariably has instructed me to "mind my own business," sometimes with other adults present in vocal agreement. Again, whole generations of people defend the abuse they suffered at the hands of the previous generation, rather than go through the pain and grief of individuation.

The kind of violence Alec Baldwin has perpetrated on his daughter is extremely damaging to the child's self-esteem. When you're 11 and your father calls you a "rude thoughtless little pig" it gets in and it stays in and it rots.

HK Cav...

I direct you to the works of Alice Miller, who has explored the matter to astounding depths, although from your word here, you may well already be familiar with the general philosophy.

I've read both "sides" of the child-rearing issue in great detail, Perry, Miller, Vachss... and as well Esso, Dobson and the like.

I think the truest evil in all the world is what some folk do to their kids in the name of raising them, and the perpetuation of adversarial parenting as expressed by folks like Dobson is a very large part of why at the end of it all, american society is extremely fucked up.

The Baldwin brothers did pretty good for themselves in getting the sexy ladies. Alec got Kim, one got Chynna Phillips, others I don't know.
I remember how our Adam Baldwin told some great stories about his daughter, and being on the set with his daughter, and doing homework and stuff in Done The Impossible, and you really sensed that he is a great loving and nurturing dad to his daughter. I wonder what his thoughts are on this new embarrassment for the guy that unforunately has the same last name and a gaggle of brothers milking that name. You were there first man! Where were they when you were doing Full Metal Jacket..huh? Probably taking handsome lessons. It must be weird, frustrating, and funny all at the same time.

I had to watch your sig before I even read your post. Great sig!

But I'm sorry you read that your dad has said worse than what I heard Alec say to his 11 yr old. I doubt any of us lived in a Brady-like house hold, where a stern talking to and a finger wag was the worst thing we could expect. It's true, that in the heat of the moment, we say and do things with in our family which appear vicious and cruel to outsiders. And some times, they really are. But I think what was displayed in the voice mail in question goes well beyond the pale. Alec not only lost control, he attcked his daughter.

Again, enough has been said about this topic, I just wanted to say I dig the sig, and was sorry to hear that you, or anyone, had heard worse from your dad.
