My broken heart...

My husband called me at work yesterday all excited - he had gone home for lunch and found the Firefly DVDs had arrived. He had class in the evening, but the minute he got home, we cozied up on the couch and put in the discs...

I had almost forgotten just how incredible the show was. It was bittersweet - making me laugh but cementing a firm ache in my heart knowing that the series was ended. I talked about this show to non-watchers like it was the be-all-end-all. I squealed with delight to find an acquaintence who was just as rabid about it as I was.

Watching some of the extras, I realize just how special it was for the cast and crew as well. What hurts the most is that so many fans SCREAMED to keep it on the air - letter writing, sponsor support, phone calls - and yet we have to be subjected to mindless reality dating game TV shows and marginally amusing sitcoms that jumped the shark 2 seasons ago. It's an absolute CRIME, and I am so depressed I could just cry.

My best regards, admiration, and my love go to all of the people who loved this show - cast members, crewmates, writers, Joss (not a huge fan of Buffy or Angel, this was something different tho!) and of course all my fellow fanmates that are desperate to see what the future will bring us all with regards to Firefly. See you all on opening night?

I'll try to be there. And I'll try to find a nice browncoat for the occasion.

It also brings an ache to my heart that the show ended, but still makes me somewhat happy. It's funny, but it makes me sad. Like when I think about the last MST3k episode, which I didn't tape. Stupid me.
