I love this movie. I watch it over and over again. I love every second of it. Anyone else feel the same way?

How 'bout Eddie & The Cruisers? I like it almost as much...must be something about movies with fictional bands.

I wouldn't say that I watch it over and over, but yes I do really like this film.

Hanks is good in a lesser role. Steve Zahn always makes me laugh.
Plus the song. So catchy and exactly how some songs from that era were - short and sweet.
I always love the bit when he plays it fast for the first time.
And Liv Tyler ain't so bad either.

Well Ok, maybe not over and over, but probably every few months or so. It's a little timepiece out of my life. It's just so addicting....

Hanks wrote most of the songs which are all great. The casting of this movie was perfect!
Guy's father...cracks me up throughout the movie
His mother...she's cool
Steve Zahn...steals every scene in the movie
Liv Tyler....Erie's finest girlfiend
Sy Soler....let's get some deli

I do love it...Then and now...

I've loved most of Mr. Hanks work , and his esteem for spaceflight , for a good while now...

That Thing You Do brings an inner smile , just the thought of it...

E&TC was a very cool film in its day , but it's been quite the longish time since I saw it last...

Liv Tyler...Very compelling girl...I liked when she was cast in
" Inventing The Abbott's " , with my frequent favorite , Jen Connelly , as her sister...
Jen-Con and those tig ol' bitties...Something like the stuff that dreams are made of...

If you liked TTYD , did you also care for 'American Dreams' ?

Like Firefly , not appreciated enough , and prematurely canceled...

I own several hundred dvds and for the life of me I cannot remember if I own That Thing You Do, but I do know that I own the CD of its songs.

now there's an understatement...... (watch Stealing Beauty sometime)

this is really great film - and if you check the credits - you will see that Hanks actually wrote several of the songs used in the film.
(also, this is a great cast - and a lot of the actors in this movie are also in another piece of Hanks work - what was it... From the Earth to the Moon...??)

this film has special meaning to me because i was in a band (early 70's - not 60's) that had a pretty good run - and with some luck, might have been a "one hit wonder".... but that's another story for another day...

thanks for the thread....

In the 1970s I remember having to wear toughskins in school or hand me down bell bottoms because my family was poor.

I love it. It is one movie I always have to watch when I find it on TV. It is DVD I should probably buy and I don't buy many. I'm picky.

May have been on the losing side, still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I went to a store yesterday while the windshield for my truck was being repaired and I looked for the dvd and couldn't find it.
