Hello browncoats young and old,

I came across something new today and I welcome it and feel a revitalization of energy. While viewing you-tube and the Firefly panel at D-C I noticed part 1 of “Done the Impossible” as a video of interest on the side. Now, I’ve been hunting (not aggressively) for a copy of DTI in stores but haven’t come across one yet. I really don’t like ordering things through the mail or on -line and do believe that I will come across DTI at some time in the future. Anyway I watched the segment of DTI and I must say that my soul has been lifted all over again. The browncoat family are certainly a passionate bunch and many of the fans in the video were speaking the exact words I’ve been feeling for so long now. I know that I must add this dvd to my collection of Firefly material, in fact when the chance comes I’ll likely invest in two or three copies.

Having seen Serenity (the BDM) before FF I know now that that was both good and bad. First, it was good because it did lead me to the verse, and bad, because at that time there was no emotional investment in the Wash or Book’s characters. Sad, but I really didn’t know the meaning or get the impact of what had really taken place at the vanquish-ment of these two characters. Now years later watching the emotions of some of my fellow brother and sister browncoats in DTI I understand totally. Gorramit even Alan and Nathan themselves talked about how moving the whole thing was.

There has to be more FF/Serenity, there just has to be. I know Joss hasn’t given up and on at those times when he and the cast and crew may be feeling a little low about the whole ordeal watching a few episode of FF and popping in the DTI dvd is more that enough the start one’s engines again.

Still holdin, Z

Zeta -

What part of the country do you live in?
The reason I ask is that some of the Browncoat groups had a chance to buy copies of Done the Impossible prior to one of the Can't Stop the Serenity showings.
Speaking for our group, we still have a few copies left that are for sale. Perhaps your local group has some too.
I don't believe Done the Impossible is sold in stores anywhere. So that might be your best bet.
It's a very inspiring and uplifting movie that every Browncoat should see. It's very well-done.

Glad you found the 'verse however you came to it, but man, oh man, you really missed something if you didn't see the BDM after seeing the series. I was JUST lucky enough to have discovered the series in the summer of '05, and watched it at least three times all the way through before I even heard of the movie (or this site). Needless to say, when the movie came out, I was there for the first showing, and there were obviously a fair number of Browncoats (I didn't know they were called that at the time, as I was new to the 'verse) in the audience.

With Book's death, there were tears - some of them mine. At Wash's death, though, there were audible gasps of horror - again, some of them mine, and my wife's. It was surreal; we'd been so gripped by the movie that our emotions were just raw, and what a shock to have blown through your cerebral cortex!

In a way, though, it makes watching the show that much sweeter now, and at the same time sadder. Amazing that we can get so emotionally involved with fictional characters in a fictional 'verse, but such is the power of Joss's writing...

I saw the BDM first and it was BECAUSE of Wash's death that I looked for the series. I could NOT believe that Joss killed him!
