Finally saw it on HBO last night. Despite having Nathan star in it, I never saw it because I thought it was just a chick flick. Watched the whole thing start to finish. Definitely a chick flick, but also very enjoyable. Nathan is great in it. Lots of life lessons in this one.

I agree 100% would have been better with a car chase, but overall it was a good movie.

SHADESIREN

I finally saw it on Cable, and I didn't like it at all.

It was KINDA funny to see Nathan acting uncomfortable, he does that well, and it's always adorable. But he comes off as a creepy loser at the end, when his wife is so wonderfully nice and pretty and obviously loves him - he's a slimeball! I don't care HOW cute Kerry is is.

The rest of it was kinda awkward and kinda... fake. I really wanted to like it (I was a big fan of Adrienne's, so I so wanted to love her last work). I just couldn't. I hated that in the end I dind't like Nathan (I do NOT like not liking Nathan), and the story was just.. eh.

On that note, I admit to being a chick that does not like the usual chick flick, but still, I expected something better.

Ok, I know guys, go ahead and rip me a new one - I know there's a lot of people out there that can't be nice when you disagree, but I can't help it. I thought Nailing Your Wife was a better example of Nathan's amazing talent thatn Waitress was. I laughed more.

Just wanted to let you know you're not the only one who did not like "Waitress". In an earlier thread on the subject someone used the Saffron quote, "Everybody plays each other. That's all anyone ever does. We play parts." when talk about "Waitress". I think it really fits.

May have been on the losing side, still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I'm in the bad movie hut too. Way slow with standard writing. Good acting though.

STOWEAWAY

Count me in the WAITRESS fan club.
The movie resonated with me. Not because I have an abusive husband or anything like that. It just seemed to make sense to me on several levels. For once I could see all the layers underneath.
Plus there's the fact that I love to bake things. So I totally believe that a woman could be happy just making pies.

I think the problem was the way they advertised it. Everyone went to it thinking it would be a breezy happy Rom-Com when in fact it was quite dark and very very quirky.

But, my boys and I really liked it.

TWILIGHTSEEKER

I enjoyed this film. I agree that it is not something everyone will be comfortable with or like, but I still recommend it to many. I like the absurdity of it and the sometimes over the top characterizations. Aside from our BDH Andy Griffith is a real treat to watch.

gentle journey all,
