The Philadelphia Phillies have just won the 2008 World Series. The last time they won was 1980.

Hmm...80-08. Interesting.

Hey, Awesome!

I was living in Philly in 1980. I remember that, I think Mike Schmidt hit a gram slam. As I recall, that year the '76ers won, the Flyers won, and the Eagles went to the superbowl but lost to the Raiders. It was almost a complete sweep.

I went to a working class diner in smack downtown Philly and tried to order sourdough toast for breakfast and got bitchy looks from a cranky waitress back in the late 90's. I gathered on that day that sourdough was a west coast thing.

As for the Phillys...I too remember that Flyers, Phillys, 76'ers Sports Illustrated cover and being pissed off because I'm an A's/Giants 49'ers/Raiders fan. Which in 2008 meant I was unhappy all the time.

However...Dad taught me sportsmanship if anything...Congrats Phillys!...Bump.
