Have all y'all ever heard of Mass Effect? It's a SciFi RPG (Role Playing Game). I love that game! So much so, even, that I decided to make a Mass Effect / Firefly Comic! It's basically Mass Effect pictures with Firefly text! Of course, to get the full experience, you gots to be familiar with Firefly; but who in the damn galaxy ain't? :) And having played Mass Effect certainly helps, too.

The main character is played by Jane Shepard, a female Commander of the SSV Normandy, a Systems Alliance prototype frigate. (Don't be asking me now why I played as 'Femshep' -- You can't open the book of my life and jump in the middle). It's actually my very own Kira Shepard, but for the purpose of this Comic she's called the default, Jane.

Every once in a while I changed a name or so, or added the occassional "straight line", in order to knit the story together. Because The Mass Effect / Firefly Comic actually tries to tell its own mini-story. Ideally, a funny line has both meaning in Mass Effect, as well as in Firefly. And I tried to go for both, of course. Naturally, this wasn't always possible, but, I guarantee, it's always heavy on the humor. :) Of course, having convenient Mass Effect names like Jane (= Jayne) and Shepard (= Shepherd) didn't exactly hurt matters, either, and I gratefully exploited puns thereon where possible.

Making the Comic actually took quite a bit of time, sifting hours and hours through endless video-recordings, just to get that right angle and scene I needed. In fact, I pretty much created a whole mini story-board for it, just to get a consistent story-line going, with recurring themes and all. All footage is taken from the game "as is", not Photoshopped or anything, though I often chose my own camera viewpoint.

I'll post the Comic, one sheet per episode, one episode a day. And each full sheet contains ca. 3-6 pages (to be read from left to right). So, without further ado, here's the first installment:

Citadel, Part I -- Painting The Town Wrex!

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed making it! :)

Art work is pretty good, dialog as it should be, for Jaynestown. Where does it go? Looks interesting.

Thanks! It kinda follows the Mass Effect story line. Firefly lines tend to be used 'in proximity', as it were, to the surrounding Firefly text/episode, but that isn't necessarily always the case (the Prologue intro text, for instance, is from Bushwhacked).

It's not without a measure of sadness in my heart that I'll post the last two chapters now:

Objects in Space -- We're Just Too Pretty For God To Let Us Die
http://files.filefront.com/Objects+in+Space/;12279740;/fileinfo.html

And a dignified Epilogue:

Epilogue
http://files.filefront.com/Epilogue/;12279771;/fileinfo.html

I loved Firefly, and I loved Mass Effect; and combining them brought back some good memories. It probably took a little too long to make, and there're probably too few people left to see it, but it was wacky fun. :) Thanks to all for readin'.
