Hey guys.. at the suggestion of a friend, I watched firefly for the first time yesterday. I then proceeded to watch the entire series, in a non stop drool fest of a marathon. Ive now just got serenity and watched that.

Oh. My. God.

I really don't even know how to explain how much I loved this series... but I guess I don't have to, if you are here, you feel me. I mean seriously. This thing brings tears to my eyes.

So.. the problem. I'm addicted. I need more. I'm fiending. What other firefly/serenity materials exist, if any? Books?

ANYTHING?!

There are a number of threads about this, I don't have them listed.
Short off the cuff answer:
Yep.
Done The Impossible DVD - documentary about browncoats and the fanbase efforts to get SErenity made.
Offiicail Companions Vol 1&2 (Firefly) and Serenity Visual Companion books.
CDs of sountracks of both Firefly aqnd Serenity.

graphic novels of time between end of sereis and beginning of movie - Better Days and Those Left Behind.
Copmplilation of essays: Serenity Found, and ?Serenity Beyond?, I think both by Jane Espenson.
Official Map of the Verse by QMX.
I know I've forgotten some.

Oh, and welcome aboard.

That is one of them. Remember that things are still coming out in 2008 and 2009, so that post starting several years ago, you need to go through it all to find all the newer stuff listed. I did see a more compact list, I think.

Things like the visual companions (not to mention the episode commentary) will bring more depth to what you've already seen, but if you're looking for additional stories, unfortunately there's not a lot.

My first stop would be Dark Horse Comics, who did two miniseries (stories by Joss, written by one of the show writers) called "Those Left Behind" and "Better Days" (as well as an online short story). They're basically two new episodes (one during the run of the show, one between the show and the movie... "Those Left Behind" functionally serves as the first season finale).

Stephen Brust wrote a Serenity novel and when it was not published, he released it for free on the internet. I'm sure there's a link to it in the links already provided in this thread.

If you're willing to try fan fiction, there's a lot out there (there are whole threads on this site devoted to finding the best stuff). I'm going to toot my project's horn briefly and direct you to the link in my signature. Our "virtual series" concludes the first season then expands the 2-hour movie into a full 22 episode second season (as it might have been if the show hadn't been cancelled), all in episode-length scripts. If you're so inclined, there's 29 more episodes waiting to be read. We did our level best to be true to Joss's style and vision.

Good luck with your newfound addiction, and welcome to the Browncoats!

Three words...

Blue
Sun
Room

Many of us write fanfiction. While it's not "Cannon" we all write what we like and what we hope what could have happened.

Take a look around and I think you will find something you will like.

That's one of the coolest things isn't it? Getting something that is so good, AND that you had no idea even existed?

There is a lot of really good fan fiction, the Blue Sun Room of this site is a good place to look.

My suggestion - if you want to find something that does the best job of continuing the series and with the same attention to character and story line as the original as well any fanfiction out there, then by all means go to http://stillflying.net and start reading from their "next episode." It's a ver credible version of what may have happened - lots of very talented writers working on all the scripts.

Aside from all of the above...

...there is one unproduced script called "Dead or Alive", written by Cheryl Cain, which you can read here:

http://www.whedon.info/article.php3?id_article=8136

There was some speculation about the authenticity of this script, but I've read from various trust-worthy sources that it is an actual script. They either didn't have the time for it, or the content didn't fit the timing of the rest of the scripts. Elements of it were used in other episodes, though.

And there is an outline from August 2002 called "Blue Sun Rising", by Ben Edlund, that was never developed further. It's not a full script by any means, but it's an entertaining 18 pages of Edlundy Firefly Goodness. I think I've only seen it acknowledged once, and I think that acknowledgement was in one of the Firefly Companions...? At any rate, it's a great read. I'll try to see if I can remember where I put it....

NCBROWNCOAT

Welcome to our little part of the 'Verse. I think there's a virtual Browncoat left in the closet. So many have been handed out but in some crazy fashion there's always one left over.

*rummages around and throws out bits and pieces and finally emerges with a dusty virtual Browncoat and hands it to RixuS*

Welcome, and i just want to put in my vote for Virtual Firefly ( www.stillflying.net).

I'm not a fanfic person...just don't find it interesting in general, but the guys at VFF have taken the idea to a whole new level. It's not just stories, it's fleshed-out show scripts, most with shot-suggestions etc etc...it really draws a picture.

It's well worth your time.
