Was there.

Was shiny.

Am now skint :-)

Where the hell was everyone else in the UK? Some folk travelled over 150 miles to get there and I *know* there are lots of Browncoats more local to this screening than that. If you want screenings to continue in the future, a bit of wider actual support wouldn't go amiss. Good works were done and it would have been great to share it with a few more UK Browncoats. Go support the Bristol one in September.

Lemming,

Maybe no one felt like celebrating on the 4th of July in the UK

How many people do you think were there?

STOWEAWAY

The official report said 25 people showed up. That's not many compared to some other locations. But it's still enough to have a right proper party. And they managed to raise some money for Equality Now. So, in the end, it's a success.
Still, it takes a lot of work & stress to put together one of these events -- regardless of how many attend. So I'm sure the organizers would love to see a large crowd as opposed to a sparse one.

Yeah, 25 sounds about right. And yes it was a good party and I know a fair bit of money was spent. And yes there was a huge amount of organising and effort put in by Manuuv, Jamie and Charlie and Odile (the 3 lads are pupils at the school where the screening took place: Odile teaches there) It's a lot of work no matter how many show up and I just felt a little ticked off that there weren't more folk showing support this year.

But surprised?

No.

That's just typically how it goes in the UK I'm afraid. It's still worth doing of course, but you have to think "intimate get together" rather than "massive big screen event". I've been to ones that were packed, but overall numbers just won't be that high compared to the States. The organisers clearly knew this as the Shindig venue afterwards was exactly right for the sort of numbers we had...which made for a good time :-)
