What are you, 6 years old still?

23 years ago, "Watchmen" was first released, yet you seem to know that story. 26 years ago, the first TCP/IP based wide area network was operational - i.e. the internet - with actual history even older, yet you seem to know what that is. 124 years ago the first gasoline engine powered automobile was developed and patented, yet you seem to know what that is.

Age is no excuse for ignorance.

Especially when you have this "internet" thing to look shit up.

ooh, shiny ^_^ new thread.

HK you're comparing apples to oranges. I know automobiles because I have to drive them, and I've seen them every day my whole life. when it comes to TV shows, I don't watch THAT much TV, so no, I haven't been exposed to eeeeeeeeeeeverything out there. It's unreasonable to assume I *have* been.
The only reason I know Watchmen is because when it came out I saw previews for it, and I finally saw it On Demand *yesterday*. I've never read the comics, but I think I'm going to. I know the internet because I use it, not because I was there when it was first conceived.
Ignorance? Really? You think I'm trying to use my age as an excuse for "ignorance" of a show that wasn't exactly before my time, but existed when the only things that really interested me were cartoons and Star Wars. Like most people, I'm not familiar with things I've never fraking heard of. I'm not excusing anything, I was asking a simple fraking question, and I don't appreciate having your crankiness misdirected at me, thanks.

barkeep, sumthin to tide me over till dinner please ><;; thanks.

There's this thing called "humor" it has a subset called "sarcasm" with a side bar caled "irony".
Sometimes it can be hard to grasp, especially when it's aimed at something you personally have posted.

Absorb the wisdom of your elders, grasshopper, for it is worth the eye rolling boredom.

I'm aware of TV shows from the 50s, 60s and early 70s, even though I was not born/too young to watch or be interested in them. Cartoons & Star Wars about sums it up for me at age 6 as well.. except that there really wasn't much TO Star Wars at that point. Just substitute Star Trek and you get the idea. (It was in syndication. There WAS no next generation yet. I am old and feeble, mock me.)

Now stop getting uppity, huffy, and confusticated you young whippersnapper, or I'll send you to see auntie MsA for milk and cookies and a nap.

Or HK for experimentation.

I'll flip a coin.

hey all,

should be working, to fill in information James Masters spotting:

I saw him briefly in the series 4 episode, It happened in Juneau playing a bellhop and in looking it up to check facts on IMDB, I discovered he was also in an episode the next year called Grosse Point 48230, in I'm guessing season 5, we now own all the series so I shall look forward to his revist, the second he's playing Reverand Harding, so I'm hoping as he actually has a name it's more than a, that's James Masters moment.

Now I really need to get on, we are horribly behind on our series, I have a ton of maths and I still haven't watched Watchmen having bought it, and I need to start a cycle of watch movie, read comic, watch movie, borrow Tales of the Black Freighter from my bass player, read comic again, you get the idea.

Now, I really ought to get on with my maths.

Damn thing is only available on region 1 dvd but maybe the big box set I think is rumoured for Dec might be region 2, if not, maybe I might have to bite the bullet and get a multi-region dvd player, wanted to get the re-cut sin city and couldn't either.

I'd declare my geekness slipping but I have been working with joy at the beauty of the pure maths I have been doing tonight, now if I could just do it more easily myself rather than staring with wonder at proofs and answers then that would be cool but going to take some time and practise.

You do know that "ignorant" and its derivations are neither hostile nor derogatory words, yeah? For example, I myself am completely ignorant about how to properly and safely wire a house for electricity. See? No harm done. By contrast, "stupid bint" certainly are both hostile and derogatory, neither of which I used.

Well.

Lately.

Not so much "think" as "know via documented evidence", but sure, we'll go with "think". Cuz that's exactly what you did. Something along the lines of "I wasn't even 6, so there". Not sure how that's not a rationalisation using one's age.........

But anyway, as usual, you missed my point, kiddo. So, here, let me quote it for you:
Quote:

Originally posted by me:

See, here's the thing...

You are on the internet.
You go to a specific TV show fan forum.
You read a thread and find something you've not heard of.
So you post a question... instead of using the goddamned internet to find the answer for yourself. That seems... I dunno... a bit lazy to me, since you have the ability to educate yourself quite literally at your fingertips.

Now, mmmmmmmost of what I had said was tongue-in-cheek, but I guess that's become an outdated concept too?

I'll take care of some of the M&Ms if there's any left.

I'm about to suggest something that may shock you MsA. Just eat a tiny bit of NV's dessert, therefore you get a little bit, he doesn't have to eat two, and you can feel morally superior for helping your husband cut down on his dessert intake. Such a humanitarian you are!

HK you are loads of fun!
Not only can you hold up your end of a conversation, even with inebriated people, you allow for a grown up version of dodgeball wherein selected lucky people get to act as a human shield for you. (Did she HAVE to wear the leather victorian number? Incoming Drooler! Avert Avert!)

tee hee.
tee hee.
snerk.

We've got friends coming over for dinner tonight. (NEW TOPIC!) It's finally nice enough to call summer and we're grillin' demmit.

I have an appointment at noon. Depending on how that and another phone call or two go, I may be cracking open champagne tonight to celebrate a new job. Or I may be breaking out the rum to drown my sorrows. I'm rooting for champagne. It goes so well with pork spareribs slathered in bbq sauce, don't you think? Nervous, me? No, I'm not nervous, why do you ask (twitch startle fidget)?

I'm a strong candidate for the job I want, I've got an actual offer from one of my two fall back options, and the other one is just going through some last few applicants and said I'm a strong candidate for that one too.

Today I lunch with the Docs. If I pass the scratch-and-sniff test the job is almost certainly mine. Now, do I want to smell like fresh baked bread, sandalwood and roses, or a million bucks? Which one says "competent, efficient, and good with patients"? I guess I'll just go with "clean and deodorized" and see how it goes from there.

I'm making rosehip jelly. There's a little cinnamon and orange in it, plus I threw in some rose blossoms. I've got about five pounds of hips drying like garlands right now. Did I mention my rugosa bushes were loving this year? The hips are bigger than cherry tomatoes. I checked.

"I got big HIPS and I cannot lie,
you other rosarians can try,
but when that big orange hip
with the boingy boingy taste
put that C right in your face
you get
.. um..
not scurvy?"

I think I need to go finish my coffee now.

Ah well, I really ought to get on with maths, oh what a long and incredibly bloody day!

I need a drink!
