Morning all

Here's the old thread
http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.asp?b=2&t=40290&m=736869#736869

Apparently the rest of y'all are enjoying fall and snow... so I shall light the fires ( and would appreciate any cold snowy air you could send this way)

I don't have snow, just the cold and wind and rain stuff. I'd happily accept donations. Be that in snow, or in money to get me to a snowyer location.

Probably, just being lazy I guess....

No snow here either, just a bit chilly but not back to the evil cold that was last week.

I was watching football yesterday and when the game switched over to the Pats game I almost threw up. Yes the snow was the main reason

...((hears crickets)).......

Oh, come on... I didn't kill the thread, did I? XD

---

On a completely, randomly different note: I had an interesting (and odd) conversation with the VP of the department yesterday. She just got back from China, and was speaking about how her father just published his 10th book, and that it made her think of me. From what I gathered, this particular book talked about how philosophies are incorporated into industry. See, in China, there are a bunch of different "life philosophies", for lack of a better term - there's the Dao and the Tao and the Zhao, etc. - and they each teach you about... well... you... the nature of being... and other such things.

Long story short: I have the Serenity logo painted on the doors of my Jeep. The characters used in that logo (from the movie) are what prompted the VP to think of me. It seems as though the characters chosen for the movie (which are different from the ones used in the series) speak more about searching for who you are, searching for peace or for your center, and understanding and accepting that, etc. Searching for serenity, as it were. Which is more in keeping with the Dao.

And - what I found interesting in relation to Firefly - is that it's a slightly different interpretation / translation than what's been made widely available and accepted.

Lots of folks are of the mindset that Serenity, the ship, was named after Serenity Valley as part of Mal's trouble with losing himself... leaving himself behind... wishing things had happened differently... in Serenity Valley. But now I wonder if there was a little more thought put into the new characters chosen, making their meaning a lot deeper.

Cool Vp to have paid such attention and thought it out to that extent.... I always thought that it was Mal looking for a way to make Serenity have new meaning as something better. He formed a family on that ship and stood his ground and slipped about defeating the alliance. Sort of a do-over of Serenity valley where he wasn't let down and didn't lose... but that's just me

Evening all,

long weekend, hard two days at work and a life catastrophe, well maybe not that bad but suddenly both my mp3 players have died!

Means that I'm about to go down to the garage and do my first workout with my new power rack without any music or audio book!

Very cool thing to hear about your VP HK, I always kind of thought of it as a combination of Serenity Valley and finding meaning it and a sense of self in the world or Serenity but what do I know?

Anyway, have to get off to garage if I'm going to lift, get phone backed up so I can get it replace on insurance as screen broken, shower, wash up and make lunch for tomorrow as off to Wrexham.

I've finished my damn course and there are still not enought hours in the day!

Erk. That's gotta be a weird sensation. Actually, everything you're going through has to be a weird sensation.... Have you thought about maybe doing somersaults to keep the kid off balance and confused? That'll teach 'im! Eh? Eh?? XD

and LOL on the somersaults... I can't even roll over from one side to the other without significant help.
