When I was a freshman, there were no guards at my school. Really, nobody ever even thought there was a reason for it. Sure.... being only 100 lbs at the time I got into fights, but some of those guys are still my friend today afterwards.

There were no guns or knives though... just fists.

By the time I left high school, there were 4 unarmed guards. They had sticks, but no guns.

Now there are metal detectors there and armed guards.

I don't have kids, so maybe I don't get it, but how do parents even allow their children to go to a place that has metal detectors and men with guns patroling the halls like prison guards, let alone a place that would need security like that?

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

Mainly the alternative is to quit your job, teach your kids yourself, and eat paste for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

People send their kids to these dangerous schools because they don't have a viable alternative.

Maybe we ought to ask the kids. Something has happened to make the administration feel that either they or the student body is threatened.

Could be something real, like gangs or open hostility between cliques. Could be just fear, mistrust, and stress.

Either way, I agree, there's absolutely no reason for armed guards in school. One of the main problems is you're throwing kids with a certain level of frustration in with other people who might further frustrate them, and they can't leave. But throwing guards in the mix only encourages kids to solve their problems through violence instead of trying to talk things out and deal.

It perpetuates the problem, and could potentially encourage certain mindsets in teenagers in poorer and rougher communities, a mindset which is likely to only get them in prison or juvie, where serving time and how much is a symbol of pride and survival.

That right there being 95% of the problem.
Almost no one does, and when they do, nobody listens to the answers they get.

DREAMTROVE

This is insane. I had no idea the situation had gotten this bad. City life is very different. Armed guards in school? What is this, Nazi Germany?

All skools seem to have barbed wire perimeter fences, to prevent escape. At Columbine cops shot students as they tried to escape the shooters, whose parents were FBI and Pentagon. Before the shooting, Columbine HS had "death training" classes that required students to lay in coffins. Lockdowns are designed to raise the body count during massmurder, proven at Virginia Tech.

Skools are now secret FEMA concentration camps, to be used for forced "vaccinations", with diseases like Baxter's Black Lung Virus currently being "tested" in Ukraine.

Go baaaarack to sleep Amerika.
