Gitmo is finally officially being closed. They've named a location for where they will be moving the inmates. Thompson Illinois.

EDIT: I had two things, but then I rethought it.

I'd be considerably happier about this if they would couple it with actual investigations and prosecutions of the people behind the wrongdoings at Gitmo...

...but this is a start. It's not nothing, which is something.

Which of course gives rise to the question of why exactly are they still renovating that prison up here and expanding Camp Graylings civilian detention facilities, in combination with civil unrest training...

They're mad at us for spyin on em, despite it being completely legal to do so, and keep flipping us the bird, like our guys ain't freezin their ass off too ?

It appalls me just how eager they are to get on with the business they assume they're training for, show us damn liberal, muslim sympathising, weak kneed pansies some real fear, etc etc...

I think our real enemies have been here all along, our so-called protectors are the real terrorists.

But as for those in Gitmo, pffth - most of em are innocent or relatively so, sold out to our folks for money, and the few who ain't ?
Well, they're common criminals and oughta be treated as such, to do more just empowers them.

Of course, POWs are a different story, and there's rules for that, which we've already violated to the point where we shouldn't expect any of our troops captured to be treated with that standard, not that I care so much.

It's really come to a point where I question the sanity of anyone willing to support troops eager to be unleashed on us.

DREAMTROVE

I'm not sure this is an accomplishment

I think Gitmo was closed because it was too public. People knew it was there, could go in and see what was going on, and most importantly, had a record of *who* was there. New detainees will also go somewhere else.

IMHO, looks like a publicity stunt.
