No resolutions, don't have time to sit and think. And hi all, I killed my computer and just got it running again. Never blow out one pc and just blow the gunk into the other, my power supply hated being force fed giant dust bunnies.

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

Lost a boat load of weight in '09, so I guess the only thing left to do is get myself even better shape for some mini triathlons. No Iron Mans, mind you, I can't see spending that much time doing - ANYTHING for that many hours, all at once. Not even sleeping!

Or maybe not. Who can say? Already been there/ done that, but either way, I'm gonna carry on w/the fitness thing. Like the routine I'm in now.

my new year resolutions: 1) to damn well finnish my speech Pathology degree, 2) to be a bit more "up" and way less negative....I seem to have lost my funny and would like to have it back now, 3)I will stick to my diet...lactose free, gluten free,(flavour & Pleasure free ha ha) etc etc.no more regressions into eating stuff that makes me tired and cranky, and bloaty, and doughy, just coz it's easier and cheaper.

Still perfect. No resolutions required. Maybe one of these years I'll resolve to be imperfect for a year just so I'll have something to fix. Probably not though.

I never really made resolutions, the new year thing wasn't a big deal. It was just an excuse to stay up late and eat junk food when I was a kid. Now I'm old and can do that whenever I want.

Haha I have the same feeling. It just doesn't seem special to stay up til midnight anymore. It also seems pretty silly that I once considered that so unique.

Hi all.

I didn't make any new year's resolutions this year. Probably because I was asleep as it rang into the new year...and they would just be the typical ones and that's so boring.

The one thing I want changed, right now, however, is the stress level at work. Last year was pretty awful, this year is the same. How come I always end up the only one in my department around this time of year? I'm tired, I'm cranky and I'm not paid enough for this crap. :D

MsA, I can't believe you are already back at work. Seems impossible.

*waves* Hi Rugbug. Good to see you around again.

Ugh work just threw me a curve ball. I just started in a new department and my new manager just offered me an "opportunity" to move to another one. Uh...is that a hint? And I'm supposed to make this decision based on a rough description of what they do? Wonderful.

I think I've decided to say "sure boss no problem" and try to be a "team player". Hopefully that's the smart career decision.

Hi back at ya!

My boss did that to me, 'cept the offered position sounds like a demotion. It's not...in the incarnation she wants to make it, but I'm not sure what to do. With the way things change around here I'll accept the position and then 5 years down the road the new incarnation still wont' be put into place. It also entails doing some stuff I like doing and some I really don't like in about a 35% to 65% ratio of like to dislike. And then she dropped it on me during a lengthy discussion that was NOT positive so it's all just bad.

I haven't figured out yet what I'm going to do.

Hope your situation is a bit easier to work through. How has the new position been working out? Is there reason to believe there's some "get rid of Zeek" going on or are you just worried for nothing?

Ugh that sounds a bit worse than my situation. Is your boss giving you a real choice or is it one of those choices where you're basically pressured into it whether you like it or not?

I suppose there could be some "get rid of Zeek" feelings. It would seem really early IMO. Everyone I talk to says expect it to take 6 months to get up to speed. I'm basically at the end of month 1. So, yeah I'm not anywhere near the level of the rest of the team but I think that's to be expected. It's also why my manager is saying he asked me. Cause it's not like he'd have to be taking a big hit to lose me at this point. I'm hoping that's all it is and he's not like "I just don't like this new guy".

I've already got a meeting invite from the other department's manager for tomorrow morning. Oh joy.

I'm not sure it's a real choice. She got pretty upset with me about 2 weeks ago and turns out it was because I wasn't excited about the opportunity. Apparently I'm a negative nellie because I didn't jump on board immediately and start rah-rah-ing. I pondered, asked some pertinent questions about implementation and practicality and that means I'm trying the shoot the whole idea down. Thankfully we hashed it out and I finally got her to listen to my concerns and basically asked her to value my 'shooting holes in the idea' because it means we aren't going to waste time trying to implement something half-assed or that won't work. I think it spun the situation in a new light so that was good..but I still don't know if I can really say no and still expect to have a job for very long. Sigh.

Still in the discussion phase. I'd take it if they offer it to me I guess. Seems like a decent enough department and they only work with 1 guy in India so maybe I wouldn't have 8am meetings every freaking day in that group.

I'm glad I stick out the work day even when I'm really not doing anything. I was just surfing at 5:30 yesterday when potential new manager called my office to setup some meetings with people in his department. Always good to be there to answer the phone rather than have the call go to voicemail. Finally doing the right thing pays off...even if only in a very little way.
