I was surfing channels on New Year's Day, and happened across a Buffy marathon on LOGO (they bill themselves as "the gay network"). Sure enough, they're now showing Buffy, at least a couple eps per day, it seems. They kicked it off with an 18-hour marathon they called "New Year's Slay", but now have settled into a groove.

More info here:

Seems MTV is also going to be showing Buffy eps.

I'm with the blogger on this one - for some reason, it makes me squee to know Buffy is on. And hopefully it will find new audiences and new fans on these two networks.

Oh, and then there was THIS:

Quote:

The news comes on the heels of more good news for Buffy fans. They are now casting for a series of motion-comic webisodes based on Joss Whedon’s highly successful “Season Eight” comics. No word on when production will start, but last month they were looking for voice actors to portray Faith, Kennedy and Principal Robin Wood, as well as a bunch of new characters (including someone who sounds like actor Daniel Craig to play a character based on the James Bond star).

Motion-comic webisodes? Is this a follow-on to the success of Dr. Horrible?

Looks like it's always a good time to be a Buffy fan!

Well, yeah, but my house doesn't have a potential viewership in the millions. :)

Realistically, I shouldn't care one way or another if Buffy, Firefly, or Serenity are ever shown again on any network, since I've got my copies already, but it does my heart good to imagine new fans discovering them all for the first time.

After all, if was only because of the last round of syndication (on FX, back in '05-'08) that I ever discovered Buffy, and by way of that, Angel and Firefly as well. Trust me when I say that syndication is a GOOD thing, and that it can help bring more people to the 'verse. :)

We're all good, then.

I *think* (haven't consulted the episode guide to confirm) LOGO is going out of sequence, showing just their favorites, at least for now. This week we have eps like "Hush", "Once More With Feeling" and "Doppelgangland", among others, but if I'm not crazy, those are all from different seasons.

While I applaud them showing eps that are more likely to spark interest or get people hooked, I worry that they'll screw up the continuity, or have too many "spoilers" by doing it that way.

That said, "Doppelgangland" remains one of my very favorite episodes, for purely sentimental reasons. It was the very first episode I actively WATCHED on FX back in the summer of ought-five. I was taking a break during a particularly brutal heatwave, and I'd been working on my car, installing the engine and transmission I'd just built by hand, when I came in the house for some lunch and a cold drink. I couldn't find anything on TV, so I put on Buffy on FX, just to have some background noise. That's when I noticed Alyson Hannigan. Then I noticed Scott Evil (Seth Green), and started wondering what else I'd missed by never watching this show. And for the record, evil-dominatrix-style Willow is a very good way to get men interested in Buffy. :)

I don't have logo, but MTV?
I mean I guess in a way it's good. There will be millions upon millions of tweens, and teens discovering Buffy for the first time.
But in my opinion MTV is the garbage dump for tv programming, and has been for many years.

Long live Buffy!

I'm glad MTV and LOGO are showing Buffy eps even if LOGO isn't doing them in order. I was a late in discovering BtVS so I know that reruns are helpful. Hopefully a few new people will become fans because of it.

Sorry for the late response, Clarity, but I'm right with ya on that.

If it HADN'T have been for the re-runs on FX, I'd have never found Buffy in the first place, and I'd likely never have found Firefly, either. If someone wants to run only the best Buffy eps, I'm good with that, because it will get that much more interest in the shows, and push more and more people into watching it from the beginning.

After all, it was one of the best eps that caught MY eye and made me pay attention ("Doppelgangland").

It is also on Netflix streaming service so it is everywhere for a show that was canceled almost 10 years ago. I thought that everyone else had forgotten a few years ago but I guess I was wrong.

SAVE CHUCK: don't let them cancel another great Adam Baldwin show go to http://savechucknow.wordpress.com/1-2/ to see how YOU can help
