#51
“I don’t believe there’s a power in the ‘verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. Sometimes you just wanna duct-tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.” - Malcolm Reynolds, Firefly (episode: “Serenity” (pilot))

#60
“I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar.” - Wash, Serenity

:p

Personally I'd have chosen "Were there monkeys?"

There are so many not in that list..

One of the top of my head is

Mal: Zoe the ship is yours. Remember,if anything happens to me or you dont hear from me within the hour.. you take this ship and you come rescue me.

Zoe: What? And risk my ship?

To me that list by Wired was a fan-boys own list, taken from the stuff that they knew, not necessarily stuff that every geek should know.

Even the FF related ones don't seem to be the best picked. Surely 'No power in the verse can stop me' and 'I can kill you with my brain' would have been better choices IMO.

"I don't believe in suicide, but if you'd like to try it it might cheer me up to watch."

ZEEK

The Firefly quote is not even close to one of the top quotes from the show IMO. When would you even find an occasion to use that quote?

The Serenity quote is fine. I think "I'm a leaf on the wind" is important enough to know.

For Firefly I think "We've done the impossible and that makes us mighty" is a quote any geek should know.

How about "I'm a leaf on the wind, watch how I *SPLUT*"

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

That so called 'list' is clearly in its larval stage, and needs to be refined.

There's no coherency with this list, and there seems to be some rather obscure, almost throw away lines which have been lifted upon high w/ some arbitrarily elevated status.

As an aficionado of Caddyshack , I don't see how Ty Webb's quote falls in line w/ a GEEK list. Maybe for a top SPORTS quotes....

So many from Firefly/ Serenity....

That sounds like science fiction.
We live on a space ship, dear.

I'll be in my bunk

We've done the impossible, and that makes us mighty.

"I can kill you with my brain" is one quote I have used a number of times. there have been two occasions where I was actually beleived (some people are too easy to mess with) but mostly I have applied it as geeky humour. It works a treat

"Damn yokels, can't even tell a transport ship ain't got no guns on it." - Jayne Cobb

Not much credibility with this list, if they can't get a STAR WARS quote right.

31. “Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no substitute for a good blaster at your side, kid.” -Han Solo

It's "No MATCH for a good blaster..."

Are there any actual geeks at Wired?

Find here the Serenity you seek. -Tara Maclay

I'm thinking the list was not written by actual geeks.
