Jack Straw rejected advice in the run up to war that invading Iraq without UN backing would break international law, the Iraq inquiry heard.

Other than bringing down Brown's government ( which seems to look like it will happen anyway ), what effect can this inquiry have in Britain ?

Could charges against Blair and his top advisors be a possibility if the inquiry finds they knowingly misled the public before the Iraq invasion?

Could this have an effect on others as well ?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, Gino, in hopes that charges WILL be filed - against Blair, Straw Jack, Bush, and Rumsfeld, at the very least.

But in reality, I doubt anything will come of it. They'll sell their books for a little less than they would have otherwise, and that's about it. Maybe an interview here or there, and a public disgrace now and then (like the Frost-Nixon interviews), but little else will ever happen, and they'll die lonely and mostly forgotten, or ill-remembered.

And I'm okay with that, too. :)

I'm not ok with it

To stop the cycle of violence, or perhaps as an example that laws are equal and for everybody...

I'd like to see all involved face trial, and if convicted... perhaps GITMO will be available by then

Because if that doesn't happen, how can anyone trust any future government that follows this mess...

Obama is guilty of whitewashing it after the fact, the same drones who developed the policys which cause that mess will resurface and do it again down the road.

Someone needs to be responsible, if not them... then who ?

These are the reasons people turn to violence to try and effect political change... if nothing else will work

Yeah, Gino - I should have put that better. I'm not "okay" with them getting away with it (and I *LOVE* your idea of sending them to Gitmo, by the way), but I *am* okay with them dying in obscurity and disgrace. But I do wish they'd do so in prison.

It's doubtful politicians will face prison, until the sheeple start making citizen's arrests of politicians.

That's the definition of Revolution.
