I couldn't get past the first minute; do so at your own risk! Tancredo at the Tea Party convention:

"Other things will require acting on our culture...we do have one, you know, it's based on Judeo-Christian principles whether people like it or they don't: that's who we are, that's who we are! And if you don't like it, don't come here; and if you're here and you don't like it--go home! Go someplace else!"

Oooo, a man after my own heart! It takes a strong stomach to listen to too much of that.

Maddow made a joke about it that had me giggling:

"You could hear the crowd cheering and hollering at what he was saying...well, actually it was a bit hard to hear what they were doing, muffled by those hoods, y'know".

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

The funniest part of it is, while HE might be hailed as a "real Amurican", his grandparents most certainly weren't. They weren't from here, and they didn't speak the language. Guess we should booted 'em out when we had the chance, eh?

My great grandmother was born in the States, but her parent's didn't speak much English. And when talking with her, she'd slip into and out of German as naturally as breathing, making it hard to keep up with her.

And I'm sure Tom Tancredo would NEVER want any of "those people" voting, either. Right?

Maybe we need to go back to the old ways, when only property owners had the right to vote, and only white men could legally own property (including slaves!). I think that's what Sarah Palin's vaunted tea-bagging heroes are really after; they're just too chickenshit to admit it in public.

TRAVELER

When I hear people speak like that I am reminded of an old movie that had this young man complaining about immigrants and how they ruin the country. Suddenly his grandmother leans over and slaps him across the face and tells him his great grandparents were immigrants.
These people are not worth the time or effort. They plugs their ears so they won't hear the truth and they put blinders on so they only see those idiots spewing this bullshit.

Y'know what kinda scares the shit out of ME? The idea that there are people whose entire exposure to the "news" consists of them hearing their friends yelling, "OBAMA'S GONNA TAKE OUR GUNS AWAY!!!" And THEY vote, too.

Yeah, Traveler, me too. My mom was a French immigrant, with her mother and grandmother. Her grandma didn't want to come; refused to learn English. Her mom was proud to become a citizen, learned English and refused to speak French. They made my mom translate between them!

Ooops, I've revealed myself; I guess that means I'm gonna be kicked out, too...oh my...

Oh, I got SO MUCH I want to contribute to this thread.
First point, my four grandparents, all immigrated in the 1890's: One was a German Jew, one an Irish Catholic, one a Swiss-German Protestant, and one a French Canadian Catholic. And they all wound up in San Bernardino, California in the 1930's.

Which reminds me of an old story: A Jewish guy named Robert Briscoe was Lord Mayor of the City of Dublin, Ireland, in the early 1900's. He came to America for a visit, and marched in the NYC Saint Patrick's Day parade.
Two little old immigrant ladies were watching on a street corner. One pokes the other and says, " Look, Sadie, Lord Mayor of 10 million Irishmens. Nize Jewesh boy!"
Other one gives her a little hug. " Yes, Zelda, isn't it vunderfulll? Only in America..."
