America loves a winner!

I'm not going to deny or apologize for what I said , OVER A FULL FUCKING YEAR AGO , about anyone. My remarks remain EXACTLY THE SAME TODAY AS THEY DID THEN.

Despite those differences, I'm still big enough to understand and empathize w/ the loss of a family member.

I guess some here have never lost a family member, or anyone dearly close. I pity them the day that happens, because then MAYBE you'll know. And maybe, just maybe, you'll grow the hell up.

An ounce of respect for the dead. Is that TOO much to ask ? It appears for a few mental patients on this forum, it is.

Incomprehensibly pathetic. ( and childish, too. Back to changing subject lines, really? Wow. )

to which Kwicko replied
Quote:

Niki, a big part of my beef with 'Rappy *IS* personal, ever since he felt the need to make a crack about fucking my mother after I posted that she'd died.

Yes, he is just that classy.

And I warned him way back then that I have a very long memory, and it's something for which he's never felt any need to apologize, so fuck him. I *WON'T* be civil where he's concerned.

Apparently, Rappy DIDN'T know how it felt to lose a loved one... at least, not as far as Kwicko is concerned.

Yanno Rappy, one kind and generous statement ... no matter how thoughful... doesn't begin to make up for the boatload of hate you've shoveled into this forum. (Not to mention the boatload of idiocy.) If you really want to redeem yourself, how about

(1) Starting by apologizing to Mike about your cruel and base jab about his mom.
(2) Vow never to do that again to ANYONE, not matter what part of the political spectrum or how heated the argument.
(3) Acknowledge and apologize for your previous remarks about Murtha being put down like a dog.
(4) Vow never to say THAT again about ANYONE either, no matter how justified you think it might be. (Yep, that extends to Obama too.)

That way, in the future you won't have anything to apologize for, and you won't be such a hypocrite.

How's that?

Rappy,

You *knew* what RWED was like, you came back here to swim with the sharks despite the vivid scars of their toothmarks all over your ass, slinking back out from under the rock hoping for short memories...

And then have the nerve to whinge about the inevitable results of your own conduct, which goes far, far beyond the few selected bits Mikey chose to hold against you, mister "two for one special", cause Mikey isn't the only one with a long memory around here.

And then compound it by having the utter fucking *gall* to all but *demand* forgiveness, in front of someone who knows all too damned well the bloody consequences of letting such shit like your hatemongering slide ?

Oh no, mister, you don't get to blame us.

YOUR words, YOUR actions, those were YOUR choices, as was coming here and trying to play makey-nicey in hopes of folk letting their guard down so you can slip the knife in over and over again like the sociopath you truly are.

So don't go trying to absolve yourself of the blame for your own actions by pushing it onto others, trying to justify behavior no human should partake of, much less ever *need* to justify, when you have only one real source of responsibility for it.

YOU.

Nice to see all that talk of folks taking personal responsibility for their actions was as hypocritical as anything else halfway decent you ever said - at least if naught else, you're consistent.

Tried to watch the first one, but it was just more fantasy "heroes"...chicken fight was funny, tho'.

Maybe nobody's noticed, but there are actually only a few unpleasant people here regularly. And no, it's not that the rest agree with one another, we have many debates where we disagree. A few of us hold grudges which come up (for me, out of nowhere) and threads devolve (not this one, as it was a devolution in the first place!). But the few who just find it incomprehensible to be civil start things, then everyone jumps in. I'm as much at fault as anyone where that's concerned, as well as of losing my temper. But I see a lot less fighting than other places, and I think those who see so much fighting might possibly see it because they're always in the middle of it, eh?

Just my two cents' worth.

I thought the chicken fight was more on point because it was as senseless and meaningless as many of the fights here...

I love the debates, my opinions have changed through this over the years a little... proves the power of information exchange in this format.. makes a person not only have a clue of what they talk about ( with some exceptions ) but also makes a person more open to the other side of the coin as well.

More positives than negatives for me... most of the time anyway

Hear, hear...and part of why I liked the chicken fight was the same reason...the extremes to which it's taken reminds me of some of the verbiage that flies left and right on the smallest of provcations around here.

But still FAR more good than bad, in my estimation.

Those who know what he did, how he besmirched the names of good US soldiers, feel this way.

It's not ME saying it, so drop all the phony " get over yourself " crap. It doesn't apply.

Some here simply refuse to live in the real world, which is fine. Fantasy and the like are fun and make for great escapism. Leozak blinks, angry now.

"STOP that disgusting behaviour! What the HELL has come over you?!" He pulls her hand away from Drillhorn and growls, "Drillhorn, you are dismissed."

Auraptor optics flash, not liking the fact he won't go along. She gasps as

Leozak grabs her hand and glares at him.

"You never considered it disgusting when I did it to YOU, while I was with Hellbat!" she shouts, and looks to Drillhorn, "No! Drillhorn stays."

Leozak decides to give some quick-fire orders. He holds onto Auraptor firmly.

"Drillhorn GO. NOW. That is an order."

Auraptor says, "No! *I* am going with him! Unhand me Leozak!"

Auraptor tugs on his grip.

Drillhorn looks at them both, face showing panic now. "I don't wanna be a part in this! Leozak I don't wanna take away your femme......Raptor I sure do like you but this is wrong! I cant.....I cant do it." He flees.

Auraptor takes a deep breath and lets it out, very pissed off. She turns and

glares at Leozak.

No, you're not curious about that in the least. We both know what Rep. Murtha seems not to know, that there is honor and professionalism in the U.S. armed forces.

No, all you want to do is feign stupidity so you don't have to admit the obvious and deal w/ the fact that Murtha is a despicable , hate filled curmudgeon.

on Palin

She wanted to expand on a few key issues. That in no way makers her " dumber " than someone who has to use a teleprompter to talk to 6th graders. That she can speak freely on her own, and needs , for what ever reason, to remind herself to touch on the points of interest is absolutely no story, at all.

She's used a teleprompter herself, when she was a sports caster. You know, like the folks on ESPN ? Yeah, those people. When giving a scripted, lengthy prepared text. She didn't hold up her hand and read from it, as the asshats on the left are attempting to portray.

There IS no story here. The evil, hate consumed and petty MSM is hyping this up simply to make her look bad. They can't stand having a popular Sarah Palin, so instead of any actual story, this is what they resort to doing. Obama makes a bizarre remark about some campaign worker who passes away and who wants to be buried in an Obama t-shirt. Way to use her death as a political prop, Barry. And Joe Biden? He's committed more gaffs in 1 year than Dan Quayle did his entire life! Do we hear about those ? No where near as much is made about any of that as we hear about Palin and her Wasilla Palm Pilot.

It irks me to no end that you chose to re-enter the RWED to post the crap about Murtha that you have. John Murtha was a Vietnam War veteran, and a Congressman who served his constituents well for many terms. He was also the main Congressional voice of the Military for decades in terms of approving and increasing their budget. As a Democrat he often fought his own Party leaders on military matters. He was always admired and thought of as a strong believer in national defense. Was he a perfect man? No, but who is? You trash the man the day after he died, all based on an incident or two during his 77 years that you objected to. Pretty damn petty and narrow-minded if you ask me. Then you engage in a vile, profanity-laced exchange with some of the other RWEDers here. That's the most absurd part, because believe it or not, during your "hiatus", some Conservatives here have been able to establish cordial and civil relations with their Liberal friends, and engage in some adult discourse, something that your blind ideological hostility would never allow in the past. I fear you have hurt that effort, as you once again show the other side all the negative things they accuse us of anyhow.

Jongaraw - didn't intend to mess up your kumbaya moment here, but to be fair, in no way did I 'trash' the late Congressman since news of his passing. The most I've said is that many Marines are not saddened by the news. That's all I've said on the matter, and it is undeniably true. Might not be very decent on their part, but it is what it is.

If you'll pause for just a moment, review how all this played out. All I did was try to show some respect, and that was too much for some here to even accept. Take note at exactly where this all went south, and objectively see how the tone changed when 1 particular poster decided they couldn't stand any level of civility from me, no matter what the occasion.

I've got nothing in the least bit to apologize for, save for being so let down by the lack of basic decency of some on this board. My fault, and for that, I guess I SHOULD have known better. As you point out, we're all human, and all have our imperfect moments.

I've got nothing in the least bit to apologize for, save for being so let down by the lack of basic decency of some on this board. My fault, and for that, I guess I SHOULD have known better. As you point out, we're all human, and all have our imperfect moments.

Yes, you should have known what the reaction was going to be from some here. It's not up to me to judge anything or to set any rules of engagement. I just wanted to point out to you that it does not always have to be the way that you operate here. You know that Conservatives are few and far between here, and you know that topical discussions can and will break down into a cursing match once respect and honesty are left out of the discussion. My "kumbaya" moments, as you describe them, are a far more logical and sensible choice than getting into shouting and profanity contests, wouldn't you agree? Is it not better to talk to people than to insult people? Is this RWED forum not a rare and special place? Where else can you directly engage your ideological and cultural opponents? FWIW, I find that not being afraid to either agree with Liberals on some issues, or perhaps even admit you may have been wrong on some things, is a much better way to keep this forum alive and healthy; as opposed to just always taking a hard ideological stand that sometimes defies truth and reality. Despite all our differences here, we do have more things in common than not. After you left the RWED for a while, there was little or no Conservative point of view here that was presented in a mature manner. It seemed like the Liberals had retired most Cons. I didn't post for a long time myself. Then I started to notice Liberal criticism of Obama and other Liberal things. When it was always Lib vs. Con we never ever saw much of that. I found that honesty very refreshing, and it motivated me to try to come back into the RWED, this time with a more open and respectful mind. It's always gonna be your choice how you choose to conduct yourself here. If someone is trying to drag you into the gutter with them, you do not have to follow. You also do not need to comment on everyone else's opinion either. Sometimes it's best just to let folks say what they have to say. At least that's my approach. For me, I believe it's been a successful and rewarding way of enjoying all the opinions in the RWED.

Jongsie, I agree with you about this place being special. I've been to other boards, and they're usually right-wing or left-wing echo chambers. This is one of those RARE boards where you can actually engage with people of opposite stripe. When I want to know what other peeps are thinking, I come HERE, because people here actually THINK and they actually DISCUSS. And I've had my mind changed about a number of things by talking here (not gonna list them gotta get to work, but it's more than two!)

So, thanks for that.

I don't know about you, Signy, but personally, I *need* to get an occasional ideological smackdown from a Conservative POV- it helps keep me real.
Echo chambers are just ego stroking BS.

True. I find it incomprehensible at how some actually go out of their way to distort what it is I'm attempting to say. Not that they would agree to disagree, or take a moment to see where I'm coming from, but to blindly lash out and vilify my remarks, on any subject. It's just so immature, pointless and a monumental waste of time... it truly defies all logic.

Chris - you are correct. A Homer moment on my part.

Oh, it's not that incomprehensible is it? There are all types of people in the world, and some will just always do that. They'll do it even more aggresively to some folks who they see as the poster child for everything they despise and detest. You cannot let them get the better of you. There are no winners and losers in RWED...no trophies, no awards of any type. It's just a community of Browncoats who like to discuss current events. It's not life and death. Chill and have fun with it. If a thread's posts are making you seethe and get angry, sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. Just hit the back button, and go join in on one of Chris's Trek talks. I'm glad to see you back posting here AURaptor.

As someone who likes all of the people here, even if I don't always agree with them on ideological grounds, it sounds to me like some things were said in anger, and anger has begotten anger.

I don't know why AURaptor keeps bringing up the "marines don't like him" point in regards to Murtha, that does seem a little like an attempt to stir things up. But I'm willing to take him at face value here, even if what he is saying now is inconsistent with what he has said in the past.

A person is allowed to change their minds, a person is allowed to calm down after someone ticked them off. Perhaps AURaptors comments about Murtha are coming from retrospection, looking back on the man's life now that he's dead and deciding he wasn't so bad as he seemed.

(As an aside, I have no opinion on Murtha, I'd never heard of him before news of his death)

I would also second Jongstraw's suggestion here, AURaptor, personal attacks like the alleged thing about Kwicko's mother really don't have much place here. So you got a temper. Try not to let it get the best of you, and if you find yourself ready to boil over, it might be best to leave the argument until you can come back to it more calmly. And even if you don't apologize for things you said to Kwicko and apparently Frem (though that might be a good idea at some point), just the fact that you're trying to keep your temper in control and treat everyone with respect will improve the general opinion of you.

I took issue with you posting your "respects" for the man, because you never showed one ounce of respect for him in life. You vilified everything he ever did or was, INCLUDING his military service (just as you have repeatedly done to John Kerry), simply because he disagreed with you on a few ideological points. And for that - for his having a few differing beliefs that didn't comport well with your narrow-minded worldview - you gleefully shouted that he should be murdered.

So take your "respects" and shove them up your ass, if you can get your head out of the way for long enough to do so.

Sure, because you would NEVER try to distort what someone has to say. If someone were to say, for instance, that Osama *MIGHT* (just MIGHT) have a bit of a legitimate gripe against the West, you'd jump down their throat and vilify them as the worst kind of humanity on the planet, calling them terrorists, retards, fucking ass fucking holes (I think that's one of your longtime favorites), claiming that they hate America if they so much as disagree with the President on the slightest of issues, and worse.

And then you get sand in your vagina when you're treated the way you've always treated those with whom you disagree. So again, in the words of your idol Cheney, go fuck yourself.

It's his passive-aggressive way of calling the man despicable (that was his word, not mine) in death, by claiming that while HE is being respectful (HAH!), it's OTHERS who are actually happy that Murtha is dead.

And seriously, Rappy, if you're happy he's dead, you're allowed to feel that way. I didn't shed a tear over Saddam's death, even though I didn't agree with a lot of the preamble for how it came to pass.

But DON'T tell me that you respect him, because that's insulting.

Bingo. When I pointed out in another thread that we've taken buildings, palaces, and entire countries over without legal processes, Rappy accused me of lumping Iraq in as being exactly like Japan and Germany, which wasn't just a distortion of my point, but an outright fabrication of things which I never even implied.

Dude is seriously off his fucking rocker. And since he's already come right out and said he has no interest in having any kind of rational dialog with me, I'll oblige him, and just enjoy snarking the living shit out of every goddam thing he posts in RWED, digging up his past and trotting it out for all to mock, and generally bugging the fuck out of him by refuting every single one of his RapFacts™ (for those who don't know, Rappy honestly believes that he is indeed entitled to his own facts).
