INSANESPIKE

I just recieved an email from Buffy.nu, a Buffy news site, and it had a link to an article about WB possible doing an about face and renewing Angel for a sixth season. This all origniated with a post at the City of Angel forums, from a post from somebody claiming to have information.

Personally, I'd take all of this with a grain of salt, as we have not heard ANYTHING about this from anywhere else, but theres still always that possibility that for once the fans might have actually won! But I'd still say don't get your hopes up until we here something more conrete from a more eliable source.

If you want to check out the Buffy.nu article, the link is http://www.buffy.nu/article.php3?id_article=3446

And if you want to go direct to the post that started all of this, go to the City of Angel forums at http://cityofangel.com/phorum/index.html , then click on the "Angel Forum:, and from there do a search on a post called "Big News".

Like I said before, take all of this with a grain of salt. But I figured even though this is very unlikely, you guys might be interestd in taking a look at it.

"How drunk was I last night?"

Don't smack me, but I almost hope WB doesn't renew Angel. I wouldn't put it past them to shorten the season or cancel it outright like NBC did with Boomtown. At least now there's the possibility of further movies.

But that's like saying, "I hope my baby dies, because it might get hurt."

LONG LIVE ANGEL!

Check out this article. It says that there are meetings taking place about WB bringing back Angel for a 6th season. Just a possibility, but if meetings are going on, it is better than nothing.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Why would you prefer movies to a shortened season? A shortened season (14-18 episodes?) would provide much more room for storytelling than 1-2 TV movies. The way I see it, Joss didn't intend for the series to end this year, and even with a shortened season, they might be able to give it the sendoff it deserves. We've seen with Firefly how much the writers can pack into a single episode, I'm sure they could fit the entire storyline into a few less episodes. Plus there are always a bunch of filler episodes every season anyways. I don't want to get my hopes up but I can't stop myself from being excited about this news.

No, no, you misunderstand me. I *desperately* want another season of Angel. Hell, three or four more would be aces. But, speaking as a Firefly fanatic (as are we all), it was literally painful to have the show cut short in the middle, without any resolution. We apparently got incredibly lucky insofar as the upcoming movie, but there's no guarantee the same would happen if WB quixotically canceled Angel in the middle of a fantastic arc. Maybe I'm a wimp for that, but it hurts too much when things are left unresolved.

I totally hear you. Sorry. WB has said, "We're telling you now so you can wrap it up." It could have gone down much worse, you are right.

You are forgetting what's happened in the past year.

"You're cancelled."
"No. We'll get Spike on the show."
"Ok. You get 13 episodes."
"Hey! Our ratings are really good this season!"
"Ok. You get a full season."
"Thanks. Are we coming back next year?"
"No. You're ratings are good and you have a large fanbase but we really want to start another vampire show that will suck so we can cancel it after 3 episodes and replace it with a new reality television show that exploits brainless women looking for husbands and/or midgets."
"Well thanks for letting us know that so we can wrap this season up and our guys can find jobs."
"Actually we might be changing our minds. We might want you back for another season. Either that or we're just screwing with you like the sadistic bastards we are."

All this makes my head spin and my stomach just a little queasy -- cancelled, maybe not, no definitely, etc. On the other hand, I figure every little bit might help, and I'll gladly put up with all the uncertainty if we get another season at the end. As long as it's still a little up in the air there's a chance, right? So I guess I'll just keep sending postcards . . .

The way I see it, the person who made the decision to cancel Angel has a boss. It's not over, but someone at WB may end up getting fired.
