Tea Party, Independants, Militias, Open Carry, most of the meetings I've been to, sound a lot like this video.

Its a beautiful thing.

Love the video dude, but not in a gay way. I especially like the reason men hide their feelings.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Dude, you gotta stop finding meaning in movies and songs. It's synthetic, and designed to play on your emotions w/o providing any clarity.

Think positive thoughts.

I think you've convinced me to skip that movie. Looks like even more of a meathead jerk-off than the first.

Ahh, Wulf, so good to see you back with your "civil discourse". You wonder why people come down on your head? Just read your last post. There's your answer, in white and black.

I agree...TRY living in the real world, just for one day (or maybe an hour)...then maybe for two...it's in many ways a nice world, tho' it doesn't have any fantastical heroes to admire.

Well now, I've always stated I give as good (or better.. mostly better) as I get.

Civil discourse? "Meathead", "jerkoff".. ect ect.

Yeah, THATS civil. But don't let hypocrisy get in the way of making your point Nik.

lol

I dunno about that, Ghandi was pretty awesome.

Not to mention half my family descends from a the kinda folk who gave us Devil Anse Hatfield, Hugh Glass, Liver-eatin Johnson, Peg Leg Smith, "Albert Johnson", the mad trapper of of rat river, and all manner of folk who were, while quite screwy and not very nice, approached rather ridiculous levels of toughness - you ever wonder WHY when they decided to knock each other off they took it to such ludicrous extremes ?
Cause you kinda HAD to, up against them sorts!

But real heroism is about what one does, and I've never seen why folks get lauded for taking lives instead of saving them, Ghandi kicked ass, and so did Paul Rusesabagina, so I would say the real world has plenty, and alas, plenty of villains too.

And when it comes right down to it, violence is a short term solution to a long term problem - those mountain folk dimwits I mentioned ?
Not a one of em had any lasting impact on anything worth a damn, except maybe Sid Hatfield, because the means they used was counterproductive.

Ghandi though ?
His ideals not only lasted, but spread, most of the real heros have been social, and not necessarily militant (tho some were) revolutionaries - puffy, empty talk is meaningless even if you DO back it with violence, cause at the very most, even by the most heinous means, you'll change ONE generation, and the next one will start changing it right back!

Compassion and Tolerance are bulletproof, even if people ain't.

And not a single post in this thread has those words in it. You're the one who started slinging mud. See, if you hang onto that hate and use it in every discussion/debate, BEFORE anyone even calls you a name, it will just perpetuate your reputation.

Just a thought, which I'm sure means nothing to you, but next time you complain about being picked on, remember the reasons. Your hatred permeates your posts, even when people try to engage you reasonably.

Frem, the phrase was "fantastical" heroes...Ghandi wasn't fantastical, nor Mother Theresa nor anyone else we admire in real life.

Ah, an insult from a bigoted half-wit.

I would be stung to the core.... if I took you even remotely seriously. But alas, you are naught more than an angry petulant child.

But it makes sense that you would consider those flicks to be representative of you. Most of the moron teenagers and trailer trash that I know LOVE it. Just a little simplistic (and poorly written and directed) for me.

No, I did say those things.

What is telling, is that my saying something bad about a movie I don't like is something Wulftard sees as a personal attack.

Such is the way of simpletons. Just leave him to it and move on. Even the dreaded rappy has more knocking around in his head than this tool.

Point, although while I do not *admire* them, some of them mountain boys were so out there hollywood couldn't do better, Johnson & Johnson (pun intended) in particular.

Some of the history, often inflated though it is, is something of a hobby of mine, and the latter incident was fully documented - somehow he pulled off several almost outright impossibilities, which is why it came to mind when you said "fantastical", see ?

I've always wondered what his issue was, what was going through his head, and why - but we'll never know.

Kinda makes me wonder if a lotta these guys weren't descended from friggin Rasputin, don't it ?

The Beaten Generation, by The The

Quote:

When you cast your eyes upon the skylines
Of this once proud nation
Can you sense the fear and the hatred
Growing in the hearts of its population

And our youth, oh youth, are being seduced
by the greedy hands of politics and half truths

The beaten generation, the beaten generation
Reared on a diet of prejudice and misinformation
The beaten generation, the beaten generation
Open your eyes, open your imagination

We're being sedated by the gasoline fumes
and hypnotized by the satellites
Into believing what is good and what is right

You may be worshiping the temples of mammon
Or lost in the prisons of religion
But can you still walk back to happiness
When you've nowhere left to run?

And if they send in the special police
To deliver us from liberty and keep us from peace

Then won't the words sit ill upon their tongues
when they tell us justice is being done
and that freedom lives in the barrels of a warm gun

Video comes through on my work PC, home Mac, and in-between iPod...

Anyone else have trouble seeing it?

Alexi Murdoch works, though. Always liked that song. Reminds me of Nick Drake.

Oops, sorry Story--I looked back to see if they had been used TO or ABOUT Wulf...missed that you'd said them about the movie. Makes the same point tho', as you said; you dissed the movie, he took it as aimed at him and started snarking.

Beyond that, I didn't catch the "movie war"...too much time clicking on and watching stuff I'm not interested in.
