The recent Supreme Court decision that corporations are "persons" with the same rights, so they can contribute unlimited amounts to political campaigns? Jon Steward did a great bit on it. Catch it, it's hysterical (it's at 6:20):

Damned straight! Stewart, and to a lesser degree Colbert, are my "gods of sanity" when it comes to the assininity of politics!

For context, try to imagine what a corporation would be like if it were a neighbor or family member. Gays will be able to marry before corporations, and corporations also ought to have the right to vote. And also, they should be subject to the death penalty, individual and severally...

I've done the math. Allow me to share. Colbert > Stewart. Colbert - 1,000,000 > Stewart. Stewart, in addition to not being particularly funny, is in danger of becoming one of the pious, bloviating jackasses that he satirizes. Colbert is in danger of achieving godhood.

You're entitled to your opinion; you don't mind if I reject it? I would put Colbert up higher, except that I despise his "correspondents" and think what they do is almost invariably stupid. Not to say Stewart's are much better, but I think he does a great job of lampooning EVERYONE.

I give Colbert huge points for the work he does, and he seems to get better and better. But for him to be 1,000,000>Stewart? No way. I'll defend your right to believe that to the death, however.

Did you know that some hard-righters actually believe Colbert is FOR REAL?!?! Speaks to the intelligence level of some, doesn't it?

Hell, the Bushies thought he was legit - they invited him to the Correspondents' Dinner. Ever seen his bit? It is more than just a little amazing; things get quite uncomfortable as those on the dais - INCLUDING Bush - realize they've been had.

It's long, but it's well worth it.

I like Colbert better for going to a live performance somewhere like the Correspondents' Dinner, but I like Stewart's show better.

My favorite part about Colbert's appearance there? He managed to ruin TWO Correspondents' Dinners for Bush! The next year, they were so wigged out about someone trying some stunt like that, that they invited RICH LITTLE to be the featured speaker. How bad does THAT suck?

So my hat's off to Colbert for being able to utterly trash TWO Bush dinners by appearing at only one of them, but I only watch Stewart's show with any regularity.

AURAPTOR

America loves a winner!

John Stewart is too stupid to even talk about the Supreme Court ruling.

1st Amendment :

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

There's nothing in there about " persons " , but merely that the GOVERNMENT cannot abridge the freedom of speech.

Mis characterizing and confusing the issue is a tried and true Leftist tactic.

Only the most feeble minded are likely to buy into that sort of mindless theatrics which Stewart engages in , when trying to hide the fact that he literally has no clue about the history of his own country.

Sad.

Seems certain other people have problems figuring out what the Constitution says, too:

Quote:

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

I can't find anywhere in the 8th Amendment where it says, "unless they're Muslims or you really really really want to torture them, and then it's okay."

Seems there's plenty of Constitutional ignorance to go around.

By the way, are you saying I *can* yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater now? Doesn't the 1st clearly say that Congress shall make NO law abridging my freedom of speech? So I can say anything at all, anywhere, anytime, right? And can't be held liable for it, because it can't be illegal. Is that what you're saying?

I am working my way to Colbert. I am still a fledgling and have to work my way up to him. This video is great and I know I will need protection for my keyboard from my fluids when I start watching him.

They're both damn funny.

I saw Stewart do a live show recently - hour and a half of him with material and free form, off the cuff, insulting our state, computers and Republicans. When he was just riffing with the audience he was at his best. Seinfeld, in a similar situation, was just *cute.*

Colbert talking with T. Gross was nonstop hilarious. These guys understand from a higher place and I credit them for turning that into Funny instead of Hate.

Gino, you can't keep saying this. It is simply not true. Jon Stewart just did a piece on Biden in Israel last week.

Thanx for the clips, I really enjoyed them. As to Colbert v. Stewart, I offer the following:

Pure softball comedy, no serious discussion of any kind. O'Reilly played the same gave Colbert was, and there were few, if any,

Prior to that:

Stewart TAKES HIM ON...if there are clips of Colbert taking O'Reilly or any of them on, even doing it satiricly (SP?) or subtly, I'd like to see them because I missed them. Stewart meets him head to head and speaks TRUTH about FauxNews. That's the difference.

Colbert does a fine job, and seems to have improved quite a bit since he went overseas (dunno if he got better writers or gained some self-confidence from that, but I've noticed it). His "schtick" is wonderful (and amazingly effective, given I've heard many right-wingers think he's FOR REAL!). Stewart is more forthright, more serious in tackling serious subjects yet doing it with a satirical take.

I won't choose one over the other, but I respect Stewart and I think, in general, he's harder hitting, sharper and funnier. JMHO.
