Ditto - it was their "Pleased to Meet Me" album that made me look into who the heck they were writing a song called "Alex Chilton" about. Chilton guested on the song, too. :) I *think* it was Paul Westerberg who said that only a thousand people ever bought Big Star's records, but all of them started bands. Might have been Billy Corgan; either way, they ripped the line from REM's Peter Buck, who said if of Lou Reed's Velvet Underground...
