Being that it's voluntary and has a logical reason I don't see any problem with this from a moral perspective.

However, from a security perspective it's bothersome, since those many of those lockboxes offer a rather false sense of security - the code isn't as solid as folk think, because the order you enter the numbers doesn't matter, and since the length of the code is specific and determined by the model of the box, usually four digits.

And since the order doesn't matter you're looking at an order of magnitude less than 9999 possible combos, which in combination with a close examination of key wear on a well used box, means a skilled and observant crook can have that box open in less than a minute.

Which, in combination with a local knowledge of this program, presents a potential safety/security issue that would not otherwise not be present since some creepers might see it as an opportunity to be exploited.
